This is my first report from Blackstone. I ran this Rotella synthetic 5w40 for 5500 miles with the large Toyota filter. Prior to this I had Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 in there for the previous 5000 miles, and before that it was Castrol GTX. I called Blackstone and talked to one of the (very helpful) guys there, and he said the sodium could be left over from the Castrol GTX. He also mentioned that generally, with coolant present in the oil the potassium level tends to be higher. What does MUD think?
At this point, with no other signs of headgasket failure, I think I'll do another sample in 5000 miles and hope that the sodium levels drop. I'm still tempted to do a full headgasket/timing cover/oil pans R&R job (I can't help it, I like working on this truck!), but maybe I'll save that for another time
