Since I've seen lots of CEL codes pop-up here and people either cannot get to Autozone, don't have an OBD-II reader, or an FSM, I've decided to list all of the CEL codes from a 1997 FZJ80 for reference purposes.

Maybe this can be put into the FAQ's for others to use.

Hope this is of use to people. In terms of what you need to do for resolving said P0 situation, you will need to reference the P0 to the correct FSM page that correspondes to the meter readings for diagnosis.

If anyone wants to add to this list, please feel free to. These are taken directly from the updated TIS website with updated FSM diagnostics.

BTW: Just got my first CEL code--135. Not going to worry about it now as I am going to a custom exhaust soon and will reintegrate new O2 sensors at that time.

Best regards.

PO755: Shift Solenoid B
Symptoms- Trans will not shift into overdrive when depressing OD button even though light goes off. When one attempts to engage OD it is still in 3rd gear. As you coast/cruise and let off of the throttle the RPM's go down to idle as if it isn't in gear.

There are 3 solenoids in the transmission that are available from CruiserDan that could be suspect. 2 of them are the same units (1) at $109 and the third one (3) is $181. 2 on the side and 1 on the back. The back one is a (1).

Update

Here is a way to decode your OBDII codes:

OBDIICodedecodestructure.jpg

P0300: Random/mulitple Cylinder misfire detected:
P0301: Misfire detected:
P0302-306: Cylinders 1-6:
Trouble Areas: Ignition system; injector; fuel line pressure; EGR; compression pressure; valve clearance not to specification; valve timing; mass air flow meter; engine coolant temp. sensor.
For those of us with 6 cylinder engines this should read:
P0300: Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0301-306: Misfire detected Cylinders 1-6 eg P0301 = Cyl. #1 etc
Trouble Areas: Ignition system; injector; fuel line pressure; EGR; compression pressure; valve clearance not to specification; valve timing; mass air flow meter; engine coolant temp. sensor.

(would also add - check main engine wiring harness for shorts/breaks. Trouble spots with harness around EGR near #6 cylinder and firewall entry to ECM. CEL can be flashing when multiple misfires occurring.)

Edited to add ... 300 series codes were corrected on my 1997 LX450 with a new CPS - crankshaft positioning sensor

I am a newbie, not new to Yotas but my first 80 Series, seeking suggestion for best code reader/scanner for my recently acquired 80 series ?? Thank you

Depends on how much you want to pay...I have a BAFX bluetooth OBDII reader that I use with TorquePro. It hasn't failed me yet. The Apple compatible version doesn't like my son's IPhone much. Doesn't bother me at all.

It depends upon what model year and engine

1997 , prefer stand alone unit, I don't need anything co-mingled with my phones or other devices

collated all above posts and edited for printing, so you have this out on the trail.
