So I'm midway through my 4Runner caliper upgrade and I reached a snag.
When I went to finish the drivers side i noticed the pins that go through the pads to the anti-rattle spring were too short. The other side was just fine.
I got the calipers from Toyota and they said the shipment was mis-ordered and somehow I got one for a 95 mini (pass side) truck Part #47030 35080 and one for a 4runner 47750-35090. They said the drivers side one was correct for the 4Runner, but the pads dont line up (see pic).
Is it common to have the pads like this and to have to get new pins? The more I talk to Bob the parts guy the less confidence I have in anything he is saying.

I looked through your thread and read you bought the 4runner hardware, so im guessing the springs and pins are different, but i couldnt tell from you pics whether or not the pad rode up above the rotor or not.
Seems weird to me.

Yea, They're napa pads. I sent them back and I'm ordering some new ones.
They fit perfectly on the calipers that were mis-ordered (I think they fit the 95 mini truck.
I ordered some loaded bendix calipers for a 95 4runner so I'm gonna kind of start over and see what fits the best.

The correct calipers (from Toyota) have a casting number of SW13B on them. If the ones you get are aftermarket it probably wont have that number. If they are rebuilds they might.

Yes the pins are longer on the 4Runner calipers and they use a different spring (as seen in the pics).

Dynosaur,

Slight hijack / clarification here, but do the castings HAVE to be SW13? I am in the middle of my rebuild of the front and have the loaded IFS V6 from Marlin which are SW12. Have searched 'til the cows come home, and while there are many who say SW13, there's none who say SW12 will not work.

I believe the SW13 is the larger caliper. The SW12 is smaller, and I *think* it's what comes OE on 60-series cruisers.

It also may be what comes on the 4 cyl 4Runners. That's why you have to ask for the calipers from the V6 with the 16" wheel package.

I'd send 'em back for the right ones.

Actually, it's S13WB

The part # for the pads for a 95 V6 4Runner is now 04465-35240 (old number was 04465-35230)

Looks like the S12WB will fit .. EDIT: http://www.yotatech.com/f120/v6-calipers-not-all-same-255146/

Yes the SW12B will fit it just has a smaller piston diameter. They are just like the stock calipers one large piston and a smaller piston on each side.

Correction: 89-91 calipers with casting mark s12wb have four 43mm pistons

92-95 calipers with casting mark s13wb have four 45mm pistons

Im looking for a set for my HJ61, and I'm confused, because I find a lot of dealer listings on Fleabay in Germany and UK stating dual 43mm pistons from '90-'95 in 3.0 V6 4 runners...

Damn!
