Project Uranus
Starting on a Winter long build it looks like...Will update info and pics soon...
As for now, I just skinned and seperated a hatch with a rear wipper motor in it, since this item is too high class for me, the first person to guess the color of my truck can have it for free..
p.s. or whoever really needs it can just PM me and i'll drop it in the mail.
-Al
o how this is going to get interesting...( the build)

Goin back to brown would be my first guess.
But seein how I've never seen a color like the current cheez color on a vehicle,
no tellin what the next color is you'll come up with
OD green would be low maintenance.
I feel major body mods on the way. Leave a little something there to paint!

Two months?, I'll be ready in two weeks. New tires showed up today, new wheels should be here next week.
I'll be there.
Hopefully your truck will be ready. I know you won't wheel the 80 like you would yours

Did you know Velveeta is CLEAR in color before the color is added?!!! Saw it on Mr. Rogers or Mr. Wizard or QVC or something.

you can't turn your back on velveeta....
i think you will go with either green or yellow ya freak.
your better half has an 80? when did that happen? your brother has a 40 now too right? so you are spreading the landcruiser poison all over the place.

Anybody know what the roof looks like with no liner? Mace what the hell does your rig look like on the inside? i think it would be cool to run just bare metal painted tan....but im wondering how hard it would be to remove the foam padding under the liner.. would be nice to tack some tubing and hooks to store stuff on the roof...( the inside of course)

Roof Liner
Hey LowTide,
I've taken my headliner out of my cruiser and that insulation is glued to the roof. It may not be too hard to remove if you do it rightm but from my experience the insulation just rips when you try to pull it out. I haven't done anything with it lately but the pic I will attatch will show you what I mean. This picture is taken from the hood looking back into the truck. I can get more pictures later if you want any.

A wire wheel works well for removing left over insulation from the roof.

I like the look of my two-tone stock grey interior. I'd just remove the insulation and pop in a new, or cleaned headliner. The bare metal would look kinda like a Ford Econoline van, so I don't think I'd do it, but I need to see one to make a final decision.

It looks like a biotch to remove. My headliner is in bad shape as well. I was thinking the same thing about removing it. What do you do about the material around the windows and down the side rails!!

That insulation sucks...my crusier sits in the summer sun for an hour and its like a blast furnace radiating from the headliner.

I saw this foam used to replace the liner on a BJ40.
Its a sound deadening foam and the dark colour makes it almost unnoticeable.
I suppose it glued into place.

Might suck a lot worse in FLA with no insulation at all.

For the headliner fabric along the "A, B, C and D" pillars, remove the pressed on rubber trim that goes around each door opening, there are a few small metal clips you can remove with a flat-head screwdriver or vise grips. The headliner fabric is held in place with adhesive in addition the the other stuff, peel up and edge of the fabric a tear it away. Where fabric runs up to windows the headliner fabric is tucked up under the gaskets and glued to the pinchwelds (the lip that the gaskets sit upon); you can just pull the fabric out from under the gasket, but you probably won't get it all. The bows (metal rods that go across the roof under the headliner supporting it) can be easy removed after the edges of the headliner are free and that's about it.
