I sleep in my wagon periodically, usually for a night or a weekend and my only complaint is ventilation. Leave the windows down, bring on the bugs... leave them up, bring on the heat. I have seen a product that is a large screen that sticks to the vehicle from the outside but I didn't think it would hold up to mild winds so I made some window screens that slide around the entire window frame, when the door is closed it secures the screen.

The outside screen has a magnet running the length of the screen, helps weight it down and secure it to the vehicle.

The inside screen is flush with the door panel...

Both fold up for small storage...

Total cost was under $15.00 and about 1 hour of work.

1 - 36"x84" screen (I used Charcoal-Fiberglass screen), cost about $6.00
1 - 1/2"x120" roll of magnet tape, cost about $5.00
1 - 2" roll of black duct tape, cost about $3.00
1 - roll of fishing line (already had it)

Folded the screen around the template and cut, sewed the sides together with fishing line and sealed the seam with 2" duct tape folded over itself and the screen. Sewed the magnetic strip in with fishing line and sealed it with duct tape folded over itself and the screen.

They do their job well... I am going to make 2 more for the front doors.

Hey what a neat idea...!!!
Where could I get the magnet tape??
I did not know they had something like that..

Im making me some... when I get back...

Oh and you should post this on the Under $fitty mods..thread.. eh..

Where could I get the magnet tape??

Home Depot carries adhesive magnetic tape in the fastener section.

Talk to MOT, I have some really *****in ones for my LX but he has some for the 60s as well.

Those look very nice/professional but if I read the thread correctly they were $235.00/set? WOW! The ones I made, although cheap/ugly can be left in while driving... not sure if/when that would ever be needed though.

Man I wish I could see the pictures at work.

I do the same thing but just with a sheet of twill a fellow mudder gave me. Use magnets on the outside to keep it held down and close it around the door to hold it in. Very cool idea!

Er no, the sides, the front screen and the ladder was all $230. The side screens I think were like $80ish

Great idea! Plus, I like the $15 price tag. I will difinitely make some to use when I go hunting.

very nice idea!

and i really like the rod holders as well...i need to do something like that. those look like trail worthy rod holders...i was just going to string up a few pieces of climbing rope...:grinpimp:

....of course, my rods are quite a bit longer than yours...

great rack, but $200? i may have to fashion myself something using a few free ideas...

i got a set of slider windows for the cargo area windows in the rear. They came from from CR Lawerence products. i got them back in 1999. They came with the sliding window and screens. It is so nice in Alaska watching the hungry misquitoes trying to get in and wishing they could. I think I paid about 200 bucks for them and they have never leaked or not performed. i love them. I do like the price of the quick screen though.

sweet idea. i'm going to have to try this out myself.

me too! :crybaby:

Or perhaps the OP could make 'em and sell 'em to us, like we convinced Kevin to do! :hhmm:
