We will be having our annual Charity Raffle at the December meeting, Thursday Dec. 13th, 7:00 pm at Pappa's BBQ in Dallas.

Please bring items to donate to to the raffle along with cash to participate in the raffle. Any item of value is fine, it does not have to be Cruiser related. LSLC will be sending the proceeds from the raffle along with a cash donation from LSLC to our selection.

Our Donations
This year we have selected an individual in need. A little girl that has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer. She is the daughter of a close relative to Jason Harsch, one of our own.

Here is her story.
Karis is 5 but will say "I'm 5 1/2". This journey begins on 10/14/12. It started with nausea and vomiting off and on until symptoms progressively got worse and she couldn't keep anything down. She was admitted to Children's Mercy on 11/14/12 for fluids. After doing a CT scan they found a mass at the back lower area of her brain. This was causing a back-up of fluid and pressure on her brain, which was the cause of the vomiting. A MRI was done the next day to get better details and ended up finding 2 more masses.

They’ve since done one surgery and are about to go in again. Probably after that they’ll start chemo and radiation.

Please make it a point to get out to the December meeting and help us help Karis and her family.

Help us get the word out!

I can't be there, so I just sent some $ via Paypal.
Big thanks to Jason, Jeff, & Chris for making this work.
Happy Trails! N

Hi Mike. We've discussed it before, but as far as I know, no one has moved forward with the process. It hasn't really been a hinderance to us so far (except for maybe the issue with Paypal a while back), so it hasn't been a priority.

We should probably bring it up again.

By the way, thanks so much to all involved and for allowing us to use LSLC to help Karis. Like an idiot, I totally forgot I'm going to be out of town on business next week and will miss the meeting and auction. If we end up cutting them a check, I'm thinking about driving up and delivering to them in person on the weekend of 12/22-23. You're welcome to come with me if you want. :) They're in Topeka Ks.

Also, I thought I'd post an update from her caring bridge site:

There has been a change of plans. The surgery to remove the front tumor has been cancelled. After St. Jude's reviewed Karis' records their suggestion was to start chemotherapy first in an attempt to shrink the tumors before removing the one in the front. They felt the surgery would risk damaging her brain/cognitive function by as much as 20%. Therefore, the plan at this time is to get an infusaport placed next Friday. She will receive her first chemo treatment the same day and again on Saturday. She could possibly be discharged on Sunday, but will depend on how well she tolerates the treatment. Karis will continue to get chemo for a total of 6 weeks and receive injections to boost her white blood cell production. The type of chemotherapy medications will cause her to lose her hair, but the hope is this medication will be very effective in melting her cancer away. It could also potentially lower the amount of radiation necessary to treat her cancer. A MRI will be completed after her treatment to evaluate how well the cancer reacted to the chemo. If it shows a significant decrease in the cancer then they will continue with chemo and possibly begin radiation at that time. As for how Karis is doing now, I'd say pretty good. She still gets sick in the mornings, but the doctors were only concerned if she was having headaches. We are starting to see a little more of the old Karis. Tonight she played with her cousin, Karley, for awhile. They are the same age. Karis has even been picking up after herself! She told me she put her shoes in her closet and hung her coat up! I'm not sure if that is really the old Karis, but I can't complain. :) Her aunt Kat, who is a PT, has been working with her to strengthen her left side. Karis works very hard and Kat is impressed with her progress. Karis calls her left arm her noodle arm. She is pretty sad to not be a part of the Nutcracker Ballet this weekend. This was her first year and she was going to be a sheep. Her older sister, Emerson, is in the performance and even offered to do her part. We will go to watch Emerson, but Karis doesn't feel up to going. We all understand and who knows what next year will bring. We are hoping to get Karis to school some next week, but don't want to push her too much. She gets tired quickly and needs to build up her strength to go into her first treatment as strong as possible. Many thanks to all of you who have been praying and donating your time and talent. We truly feel blessed to have all of you as a part of our lives and know we aren't headed into this journey alone.

Not fair. I will be there with cash and maybe a few parts. Anyone looking for anything in particular?? Anyone have a nice set of matching 15 inch tires?

Not to sidetrack this thread, but some of us on another thread would like to send some cards. Can we possibly get an address to post up for people to send cards for this little girl?

The Nak-
Great idea! I know that they are requesting donations, but for those that are unable to, or would like to send a card I think that would be cool. I wonder if we can get an address?

Jason, it's your call on this since you are close to them. Or we could gather cards and you could deliver them if preferred.

I think sending her cards would be a great idea. I'll go ahead and post their address. I don't think it'll be a problem

Again, thanks to all who are helping with this. They're going to be surprised with this extra support. She's starting chemo tomorrow so think positive thoughts for her.

What size? I know where a set of 70ish% 36" swampers are at for 15" wheel...

TTR will be encouraging members to attend and donate to this worthy cause.

Thoughts and prayers to the family and the professionals that are treating her.

What time do you guys plan to start the drawing? We will adjust our General Meeting time if necessary so that everyone can attend and help raise some money.

I personally figured 8ish... Gives people time to eat, talk, and what not.

I'm sure I could fit 36s on 1 of the projects but with 70 percent tread probably going to be too expensive for me! looking for pretty much any size matching sets 30/9.50 and up. I'm tired of leaking tires and mismatched sets all over the shop.

I'm also looking for a good used F engine water pump. trying to get a truck running just to see what kind of shape it's in.

see you guys tomorrow night!
