Woody suggested that this would be the best place to post this request...

I am looking to collect up some very special old school cruiser photos for a project (possibly a calendar or an article in Toyota Trails). You know the ones I mean: that snapshot of you when you were 8 with your grandfather on a hunting trip next to the FJ40... the picture of your first cruiser on the day that you brought it home from the dealership... special images.

If you have something drop me a PM or email (don't post pictures here - I'd like to keep them a surprise for the final project). Ultimately I'll need a high quality scan of the image - I can help with that if need be. Depending on what I get I'll be crediting the photographer and collecting up caption info.

And of course you'll get a free copy of whatever comes of this - if it does.

This, borrowed from another mud thread, typifies what I am looking for:

Mark;

Look for the "40-series back in the day" photo thread. It's in the 40-series section. Full of great pics.

Sounds like a great project. Let me know how it develops. I'd like to see it.

Looks like there are a number of people getting onboard - I have received a number of supportive messages from people wanting to submit...

The plan is to collect up raw submissions, make some selections and then get in touch with the submitters to get final scans and caption info.

I will need high quality scans ultimately - 300 dpi at 100% of original size will be good. If you want to send low resolution versions (or even cell phone pics of the photos) initially I can get back to you with my selections and you can get high resolution scans of just those. FedEx/Kinkos or Staples or someplace similar should be able to do it if you don’t have any other options.

If you have pictures you would like considered please send them to mark@woytovich.com

I will not post these images anywhere or do anything with them without your specific permission. I will not be accepting original paper photos - I wouldn’t want to take on the responsibility

well, how about this?

from my childhood and where the love began...

classic photo for sure!
hope you have this one blown up and framed in your house!

Better late than never? this is my 1974 FJ40 the year I bought it in 1976.
First pic: My Dad (on right) and hunting buddy.
2nd pic: Me (on right) and same hunting buddy.
I was 22 years old back then. I still drive the 40. I'm 60 years old now.
