Heading south on the Cassisr we saw some cool wildlife.

The Cassiar is known for eating vehicles but i was suprised to see another BJ60!

Oh yes, I can't forget the manifold pizza pops! Yummy. :p

From the south end of the Cassiar we headed west to Prince Ruperet via the Yellowhead hwy. 16.

We were a day ahead of sched. at this point so we spent the day at the Ruperet museum, ate and got a call from Karter...(ForealBoreal)

Now, due to BC Ferries hight restriction we had to get the 60 below 7ft. so for night 2 in Ruperet we got a hotel and I wondered how to shrink the 60.

We pulled into the hotel parking lot and met some new friends and Karter pulled up in the 77 for a visit as well.

Sweet evening in the rain.

Gina and I had a reservation for the ferry departing bright and early on the 28th. The FJ Cruiser guys were very generous and offered to help us flip the RTT off the roof and onto the hood. So we did, then we aired down to 5psi and deflated the air assist bags as well. 6'10..... sweet.

Having the tent on the hood created a wee bit of a blind spot so it was Ace Ventura style in the Ruperet rain to the ferry at 5:30am!

I was laughing all the way. (and others were too.)

Milage for the last few legs was:
15.5L/100k
15.2L/100k
14.9L/100k

Ahhhh BC ferries.

Well the ferry was a whopping 15hrs. I smuggled a couple pops on board and that kept me entertained. I made lots of friends but can't remember any of them. lol.

The ferry police close the car deck and every time I tried to sneak down I got busted. Bu the third busting by the same guy we got talking and he let me get more pops from the truck. Around this time I decided I should flip the tent back onto the roof so there was less to do in Port Hardy in the dark.

I managed to get it about 85 degrees when my feet slipped out from under me.

Both me and the rtt fell on the hood, then continued falling down to the car deck. I managed to land the tent slowly using my body to absorb most of the tents donward enegery. Unfortunatly that ment my body was moving exceptionally fast downward.
I now have three big dents on the hood. 1 from each knee and another from my face. sweet.:bang:

I did manage to get the tent up there at last and strapped it down. I went back upstairs with my last pop. Drank it, and passed out and slept soundly on the floor while my ego healed.

Then it was a quick trip down the island..... Home at last!

Great trip. So much fun.

Hope you all enjoy the story.

Although, it'd probably cost that much in fuel to drive down...

I dunno, Cam said he was getting about 15L / 100KM, and according to Google:

Prince Rupert - Williams lake = 952km, = 142.8 L (13 hours time)
Williams Lake - Tsawwassen = 569km, = 85.35 L (7 hours 34m time)

For a total of 228.15 L used. Assume diesel is $1.30/L, then... $296.60 total and 20 hours 34 minutes.

dont' forget there's another ferry anyways...

but I think the 20 odd hours of driving might have had something to do with it

and, btw, your nerd is showing... :flipoff2::lol:

One thing I forgot in the story.....

I left a box of parts of mine with Adam before I left. He agreed to mail whatever I may need from said "box" to where ever I might have needed it. Thanks Adam. Ill come by and get that box one day here, I lost track of time on Sunday and blew it.

And yes.... Id love the hood! Dont suppose you have a spare nose and cheekbone do you?

Great story. Its nice to see you are enjoying the fruits of your labor on your truck. Cruisers are built to go places and not many use them for that purpose.

Awesome! Great pics and story Cam.

Seeing Watson Lake in your pic's brought back some memories, broke down there twice, including tire issues (going north and south) for a week total while doing a job in the Yukon.

Glad to see the cruiser and RTT worked out well.
