I see on ebay Aus that there is a BJ42 LX (triple wiper) that has had a Chev V8 conversion done to it, not all that uncommon in Australia unfortunately.

Does this kill any interest in the vehicle or make it more interesting?

If it was something you would buy would you leave it as it was or convert it back to a diesel?

Doe the diesel motor give the BJ40/42 its uniqueness?

Cheers

You are going to have issues getting it registered in many states if it is too modified.

I would be very hard to get v8 past SMOG in California, and many other states or cities seem to be following.

They drive well with V8's however diesels are way cooler as they where never sold here, you can buy an FJ locally and throw a v8 in it. I do not thin you will get ya money back.. IMO

I know I would not pay to import a V8 cruiser with a conversion from some Aussie farmer.

The amount of Cruisers that I see come over from Australia that have horrible back yard outback wiring is ridiculous. Farmers use speaker wire for everything, cant even imagine a v8 conversion

That is my two cents and I have imported two cruisers in the last two years both in

Pretty much exactly what I had thought. The only reason I thought this may be different is that it was an LX and they are pretty rare, to the point that it would almost be worthwhile buying it (if you could get it at the right price) and converting it back - assuming it wasn't cut up and messed with too much.

assuming it wasn't cut up - These are Aussie farmers doing these conversions. Not Chip Foose..

I Grew up in Melbourne and have seen many a shady job done on a farm. While the are better than Latin America not buy much...

I guess I have an "old school" mentality but when I see a Cruiser with a V8 or worse yet a Chevrolet diesel I quickly lose interest.
