I also dig this. It looks like the seller can produce this in custom colors - I wonder if they can match the beige interior? I really dislike the wood on the wheel as well. Also realized this winter that there isn't a heating element under the wood section at the top - only on the sides. Dumb, Toyota... Just dumb.

in several of the videos they use a lot of double sided tape, is this the case in your install? Or was yours primarily sewing? Any damage to the steering wheel itself - if you don't like the look eventually and you decide to remove it the wheel itself isn't damaged, correct?

Thanks, very nice, definitely interested in this.

At least you have some heating, my 2011 has nothing and you know it in the winter, Danm thing is ice cold.

Yes, I used the double sided tape and installed along each edge (not too close) all the way around the inside of the cover. Then, once I test fit the cover in the position I like, I peeled the tape off (was a little difficult due to the tight fit behind the steering wheel) and secured the cover before beginning the stitching process. I am sure you can do it without the tape, but they supplied it and was in the directions so I used it. I think it does help keep the cover in place during install. I absolute love it and honestly can't believe how OEM it looks and feels. Wayyyyy better than stock wood/leather :)

Any updates on the look of the leather since installation? Has it smoothed out at all or any new wrinkles?

I ordered one, waiting for it to arrive. Just want to make sure it still looks good.

It looks way better now than after the fresh install. After a week or so of letting it settle, I took a D battery and rolled it over the leather like you would if flattening dough :). This smoothed out little indentations left from the tape and any nonconformities. It really looks smooth and factory now. I've received so many compliments and really enjoy the high quality feel over the wood.

Glad to hear you ordered one. If you have any questions regarding install, let me know. Patience is the key, a lot of patience ;)

I decided to take the plunge and do this mod. I'll admit when I ordered this color I didn't realize it wasn't perforated like the others but now that it is in it looks amazing. The added bulk really makes the wheel feel nice in the hand. The leather really feels high quality.

It took me about 3.5hours to install. I pretty much worked straight through. I'll admit I did have to redo the bottom stitching as the measuring was way off. It really fits nicely and looks great, in my opinion.

Looks very nice. Wish I could convince myself that I wouldn't mind spending three hours doing this install. Beverages aside, I think I would need Ritalin!

It does take a while. Until the sewing started I thought I was going to be done in no time. The sewing takes a while. I think it is totally worth it in the end. Feels so much better.

@sPaulp and @EPUro2019 just wanted to check back with you guys now that its been a few months of what you think and how the Xuji wheel covers are holdings up. Was thinking of wrapping an old wheel I have for my Supra.

Honestly I love it. It looks great, definitely feels more premium in the hand. It is holding up great, no noticable change at all. I think it is worth it.

Updating this thread, just finished installing my kit last night.

I really like this result, the feel of the wheel is sooo much better than that plastic fake wood. It needs some break-in to get the texture just right, but it will get there eventually. I went with the black thread, so it would match my interior. I was also afraid if I went with the red thread and I made a mistake, it would be very visible. No regrets.

And now that I look at the photo, I can see that although I got the seam at the bottom perfectly centered, the upper section isn't (I did that part last). Not sure I'll go to the trouble to fix it, doing all that stitching was a PITA and took a long time. Oh well.

A few tips:
* Pull your horn fuse. Otherwise when you are tucking the leather in the grooves, you will beep it a bunch of times. The fuse is in the big panel right behind the main battery.

* Watch the YouTube videos. Very helpful.

* They give you plenty of thread, so don't be stingy when measuring. The video mentions cutting off 3X the length, but I found 5-6X was safer, and I still had plenty left over. The first section I did, I ran out and had to yank it all out and start over.

* If I were doing this job again, I would probably remove the center air bag and the switch panels, and the trim behind. Tucking the leather in was tight and it doesn't seem to want to stay in a few spots.

I'm gonna give it a week or so, then might use a little gentle steam on it to see if the leather will shrink tighter. Will also put some leather conditioner on it as well.

nice work! I agree completely, definitely a nice upgrade and much better feel. Significantly better than the fake wood.

Does the new leather cover the existing leather on the steering wheel? Or is the new leather only for the areas with the fake wood grain?

Thanks
