Hey guys,
I'm new to ih8mud and it seems like this is one of the most active western Canadian groups on here.

Im in Calgary, trying to find an HDJ81 to become a dd/overland/wheeling rig.
Unfortunately I just missed out on a really clean outback imports LC that was on the island, Does anybody here know of someone interested in getting rid of one that doesn't have it posted online?

Any recommendations on where to keep an eye out? Other than on here and kijij of course haha.

I've just accepted the fact that Ill end up having to make a road trip to buy one, so location isnt too much of a concern.

Thanks,
Connor

Haha the Jeep just ended up being way over the top for highway travel. Stretched tub and frame, ls swap, full custom suspension and steering, high bolster suspension seats, harnesses, ect.

I never thought I would be building "luxury" toyota for wheeling haha, but it would fit the bill perfectly!

Oh by the way, is there ever public trail runs posted on here?
Im planning a trip out to the coast in august, and pending the purchase of a LC(No way in hell i'd drive the jeep that far haha) I would love to see what bc has to offer for wheeling!

BC BackRoads Mapbook There is one for each area of BC. So you buy a book for Vancouver Island, Coastal Mtns', etc.
They are about $25 ea. Worth the money, there is an enormous amount of information with BC gov't sites, rec sites,
umm...backroads, and stuff. Of course, just post up when you come over on the boat and I'm sure someone will
give you some directions, and advice. Never any shortage of advice. J

Wheeling trips are posted here on MUD, some are short notice.

Cruiser Days (our annual show 'n' shine) is July 23; there will likely be an overnight wheeling trip after the show. If that works in your plans, it's a good time to be here.

There is also usually a trip to Whipsaw over August long weekend (fire season depending), and also over the Sep long weekend.

Cheers,
Rob

Ill check out those back roads map books, i've mostly been exploring in google earth pro haha.

Unfortunately that '91 doesn't have factory lockers, which is definitely a requirement for me. :(
WOW that '96 is amazing! but complete out of my price range haha.

Ill keep an eye on Used.ca Seems to be a good bit of stuff on there that doesn't hit kijiji, ive never even heard of it until now.

Yeah not totally sure when ill be making the journey west, depends when I can get vacation time booked. But I will absolutely post up on here and see if anyone is down for some wheeling :beer:

don't get too caught up with lockers. They add a lot to the price and you can always throw ARBs after. Look at maintenance, mileage, and overall shape is my advice. Those are three things you can't bolt on

Lockers can be obtained later and the chances of scoring a good condition vehicle for a good price increase if it doesn't have lockers.
There are a few options available out there for aftermarket lockers and of course you can try to find factory ones later.
Terrain Tamer is doing one with Eaton that is electric for a lower price than ARB, and you won't need to huy an air compressor (although those do come in handy too). At least the cost is lower and you don't have to get everything all at once.

Nice.. I think that is silver not your unique 'pearl necklace' clearcoat....
