one stop shopping would be Greg/ Sheldon @ G&S.

I have (as said in pm)
NOS 3 groove pulley
NOS PS bracket
NOS a/c pulley bracket

don't forget, you'll need an 3B a/c idle up, diesel a/c amp, and the evap case to begin with.

if no a/c idle up exists, then please identify:

pn 88690-90A02 valve, magnet (for idle up device)
pn 88031-60040 actuator set, idle up
bj60 1981-1987, page 1054, fig. 87-17, "7-C11", catalog no. 99621-88

"actuator" is discountined in north america and australia for certain as Gary "Mudrak" was shopping 18 months ago for one without success.

I installed my A/C from the book that came with the OEM install kit (the parts guy at the local dealer bought a BJ60 brand new and got the A/C setup for it and I had access to his install book). There was NO mention of an idle up system. When my A/C cycles the engine RPM might drop 25 rpm if at all. Maybe it was part of the system when the A/C was installed in Japan but the OEM A/C installed over here did not have that stuff.

Rick, still awaiting your pictures and confirmation that I can get those parts.

For Sale Posting for your BJ-60

Are you still looking to sell the BJ-60?

Thanks Rick..

Mel, I am pretty sure we have
3b a/c bracket and compressor (24v clutch)
3b triple pulley
3b power steering bracket and pump,
13B-T manifold next week when a container arrives.
Between Rick and us we should have everything.
As Rick mentioned, the 3B AC system does have a AC idle up, but they are Obsolete and extremely rare used. I think you can get by without it, the 3B has so much torque at idle that I don't think the AC pump will bother it. You can always bump up the hand throttle.

Shoot me a PM or email at info@gscruiserparts.com
for pricing.

Well I don't have it and Gord at JP Toyota who put A/C into his '83 brand new with the OEM A/C kit (that's where I used the OEM A/C install book from) doesn't have it either.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with it even if it was free! After 3 years of A/C I don't see the need for it and believe me, the A/C in my truck runs ALOT of the time when we are in Central America. I have NEVER had the truck even come close to stalling due to the A/C engaging. As I said before, my idle might drop 25rpm when the A/C engages.

Mel, the one thing that you DO need that has not been mentioned is the fan relay that powers the A/C circuit. The Canadian trucks did not have the correct relay for A/C but they are the same as an FJ60 so just get an FJ60 fan relay (the square one with a side terminal which powers the A/C circuit). I think it's a white/brown wire that you find unconnected in the area where the relay is. Your truck likely has the round relay.

I don't have the AC idle up hooked up on the 1HD-T in my 80 either. The
RPMs barely even budge. The AC system probably isn't at its best efficiency at the lower pump speed but whatever.. Personally with the auto tranny I find it better w/o the idle up as you tend to have to fight the truck to stop when the AC kicks the idle up.

sheldon-

your a slacker for not having the idle up hooked in. one vacuum pipe from switch to the pump.

sheesh.

...and Mel lives in florida where a/c's a little more important than the artic circle
(it's 23F here right now and we had snow last night)

ya ya... I have been working on the really important stuff like wiring in the red and green turbo LEDs instead.
Want me so send you a snow shovel?
It was 53F and sunny here today, I won't be needing it.

I think that the OEM "kits" were just to get the stuff in and working with as little trouble as possible. Which would account for a few of the finer details left out.

I wish the kits were still made but Toyota drops them like a rock as soon as a particular model ceases production.

That's the way I like it! Less crap under the hood to go wrong. Seriously, I DO NOT miss it. I wouldn't bother to walk down the street to get it because it works just fine the way it is.

You can hear the engine load up when the A/C kicks in but you can't notice any rpm drop on the tach. The rpm varies way more due to altitude changes.

My bj62 hardly drops in idle when the a/c kicks in ....maybe 25-50 rpm...you really don't notice it. It doesn't have the idle up and the a/c on the engine was a dealer installed item, thats what the PO of the bj60 that the engine came out of told me.
I have my idle set 750-800 rpm winter/summer. How much does the idle-up raise the rpm's when the a/c kicks in?
