Since I have never owned a cruiser, a lot of the cruiser related stuff is lost on me. A friend of mine, whom some of you have met at different club rides (has a Series 1 Discovery and silver 4WD 2500 Cummins Dodge) has bought an 80 with a blown motor for around a grand. He got an engine in good shape for $150. The truck is 96-97 and is in very good condition except for the motor issues. He is looking at doing lift and lockers and some other things down the road, but right now just getting the engine put back together and get it driving to make sure there is nothing else wrong with the truck before taking it on the road or on the trail. I will be helping him as I have time since he has never owned a cruiser before. May even get him into the club now that he does.

Any ideas on places (prefer local, but web is ok too) to get parts for 80s specifically since we dont know alot about them. I know Slee is an 80 guru and that is about it. Also would be good to know shops or vendors to stay away from. The focus right now is on the engine, driveline, axles, etc.

Do we have a shop or dealer in ATL where we get discounts? Any local shop that knows 80s in case there is something that we cant do? Anyone in the club willing to help out if we put together a workday later on down the line?

I have an FSM for it, so that will be a big help.

Thanks in advance,

Jon

We don't need Slee over here. We have Brian and Michael: Atlanta Custom Creations :: Land Cruiser & Toyota Trucks/SUVs :: Maintenance, Expedition Builds, Restorations
They are all that you will need. They run a great shop (Brian has and wheels an 80). They do great work and I imagin that you are about to hear more about them. You guys should come to thier event in June at their shop. There is a thread about it here in this section.
There are also many others on this board that will be able to help you. 80 tech will also be your friend. Good luck!

Also FYI, ACC has a customer appreciation day coming up
(https://forum.ih8mud.com/ga-georgia-cruisers/282666-atlanta-custom-creations-event.html) which could be an opportunity to check out the shop and meet their team.

... just a thought for your consideration and welcome to the Cruiser community.

Quit helping people with their trucks and fix your own. It has been broken for over a year now!
