WOOHOO!! Finally got the HDJ80...... 4432 km's away.

I came back to the Sand flat trails this time just after sunrise. The day before I could not drive and film because there were too many other people on the trail with their spotters littered left right and center. I would definitely have squashed some of these dudes. When the hood is pointing towards the sky, you can't see diddly squat in front of you.

Why are the videos shaky you ask? Because I was holding the steering wheel in one hand and the phone camera in the other while navigating the trails. My attention is on the trails and not on the filming. The video sequence is from the entrance of the sandblast and through the entire Fins n Things trail. Some small sections were omitted simply because I needed both hands on the wheel. At least I had the orientation correct :moon:

I wish I could have brought all the camera gear with me, but I flew to Vancouver and just could not take any more stuff. All the basic tools I had on me already exceeded my weight limit.

Anyway here it goes. Pics first followed by vids

At the entrance of the OHV park overlooking all of Moab:

Please be advised that I do curse on the following videos. Like a dumbass i did not have any straps to secure my cargo. Suitcase Plastic tote of spare parts, Plastic tote of camp gear, Tools, And best of all, a large cooler full of ice and drinks. On several occasions they all hit the roof of the cruiser :crybaby: No damage done. The stupid hitch is what pissed me off the most. I definitely left more than a few marks on the trails with that stupid stupid hitch. I can't wait to get proper bumpers etc.

If you are in an office, turn down the volume. If there are kids around you can turn down the volume or tell them to fxxx off :flipoff2: Ear muffs is another option.

This next couple vids of the top part of Fins N Things. Almost fell off while filming. Im still surprised that such a large vehicle can make it up and down this thing. More than ever, I am convinced what a formidable vehicle the 80 series is. The camera somehow makes everything look so flat. The ones who have been here know what I am talking about.

My favorite section :hillbilly:

Now I have to get back down

I chose this trail to get back down off the rock. Its a steep and relatively short fall.

Just making sure of my lines. Don't want to roll this thing :hillbilly:

And down I go

And the remainder of the trail I managed to hold the camera without interruption. Enjoy my dumbass commentary :flipoff2: I can't help it. I really hate that fxxxing hitch

Somewhat of a common issue you are starting to see up here, I replaced the part as PM years ago as the original part was known to fail, you won't know anything is wrong until all the oil is on the road and nothing in the engine..... I know of one or two cases of this happening to people up here....

I believe most of the parts are avail at your local Toyota or just talk to @beno

15407-17011 HDJ80 superseded (Turbo Oil supply/drain)
15471-58010 Seal between turbo and oil line
90430-12221 Crush washer (you need 2)

Your don't really need the following but why not spruce up everything!
90401-12097 Banjo Bolt
90467-26001 clip for rubber hose (you need 2)
90910-05206 Rubber drain hose

Thank you for the info! I got lucky. I'm in the "honeymoon" phase right now so I keep staring at the cruiser. That's where I noticed the oil under the truck. By coincidence I also had about 3gallons of oil in the trunk the PO gave me so I made it home.

I should get in touch with @beno being that he is in my neck of the woods.

I'm not familiar yet with this rig. Maybe he can tell me.

This is from a local guy (@Enigma) who just posted up saying he noticed this, as you can kinda tell its starting to weep from the oil supply, atleast he caught it in time!!

There are 2 different numbers for the feeder. the superseded part above or the HDJ100 variant which has a brace... they both work and are better than the original on your truck.

Is this the truck that was on craigslist with the carpet removed because it smelled?

Yup that's the truck. The sunroof drains are clogged and probably the carpets got wet and started to stink over time.
