In a bold departure from tradition I actually got out of the Cruiser and walked around a little bit last weekend.
Woods Lake is located a couple of miles past Carson Pass on 89. The loop trail starts near Woods Lake climbs 1100' to Round Top Lake then, after a 1 mile traverse to Winnemucca Lake, descends back to its starting point. The whole loop is about 6 miles.

Here are a few pictures in a somewhat random order.

Part of the old mines road bed. Just past the dry stack wall the road is missing for about 25'

Actually those were taken with my crappy little Nikon coolpix, Joanne was using her DSLR. She has some really nice shots. BTW thanks:grinpimp:

Cool pics Dan. Looks like a really cool place for a day hike for sure. Its crazy how similar a few of those pictures are to the ones I have of Liberty, Favre, and Castle lake up on the north end of the Ruby Mountains. Castle lake is at the base of a HUGE rock cliff exactly like those pictures you took.

Nice!
Did you grab that piece of plate steel!? That could come in handy.:hillbilly:

Nice pics. We didn't hike as much this year as we did last year. Going to have to rectify that.
