Includes everything it takes to plate zinc bolts and finish with a yellow chromate. On the Caswell site it is called the Copy Cad 1.5 gallon kit.

It works beautifully as you can see below. It is dead simple and essentially makes old hardware new again.

Full setup seen below. All you need is a few bottles of distilled water.

Because of the nature of the equipment it would be for local pickup only.

All in I paid just under $400 for this kit.

It’s damn near as easy as dying Easter eggs and the reward factor of doing this is incredibly high.

It comes with their instructions but I’ll give you a tutorial upon pickup.

$150

What was your method for cleaning the old bolts prior to the new coating? I've got some crusty bolts on an axle, prefer not to buy all new, threads are good, but the heads and washers need to be cleaned by media blasting or rust eater of some kind. Curious what you used.

Thanks.

Hey there @EWheeler ! I experimented with a vibratory tumbler, wire wheel, rust remover dip and finally landed on the simplest choice.... muriatic acid. I figure the mix I made was 50% acid from the home improvement store and 50% distilled water. Be sure to always pour acid in to water and never water in to acid.

Most bolts were PERFECTLY clean within about 5-10 minutes however I did have some bolts that needed to be in the solution over night. Experiment with it but do it outside the garage, muriatic acid will cause every piece of metal without protection to rust. Luckily I never made this mistake and kept my bucket outside. Also it goes without saying that glasses and gloves are a must.

The Caswell system was amazing, I highly reccomend it. Best of luck EWheeler!!
