on the road again....
I have been thinking of getting a zeon 12S Platinum although not sure it will fit....if there is enough room behind my Arb bumper on my 2014 LC ?? Maybe if I remove the top and relocate it??? Anyone know? Slee notes several that will fit but the list is not complete I can see.

I don't like the fact that it is not hard wired, only wireless. Don't like the idea of being way out in the boonies and depending on a remote? I suppose it could be hardwired also. Comments or thoughts appreciated.

Also wondering if it will only mount feet down?? I prefer foot forward.

Thanks all....

The Warn Zeon Platinum 12S fits in my 2016 ARB Summit bumper and I believe that the mounting feet are facing forward. You are welcome to checkout mine in person.

Couple details:

-The Warn Zeon 12S is the exact same physical size as the Zeon 10S (or non-S).
-Mounting: The Zeon Platinum allows the feet to be adjusted for different mounts. You simply loosen the housing and rotate the whole thing so that the feet attach on the side your mount demands.

I have the Warn Zeon 12S Platinum in my TJM with the box on my bumper, but I know WillyB has the same...entirely stuffed inside his TJM without issue.

It should fit into your ARB.

what are you guys thoughts on relying only on a remote and not having a hardwired control. Seems remotes could leave you stranded or have signal trouble. Seems you need to mount an antenna hood height at least.
I go through two rivers getting to my cabin. Sometimes it is 6" of water and sometimes a bit over 3 '.
So for some reason not having a hardwired control gives me second thoughts.
I suppose Warn has tested the hell out of them though. But I like secondary systems. :)

Me too. I just got off the phone with Ben at Slee. He was mentioning the fact that a 12,000 lb winch won't pull you out if you are totally buried anyway unless you use a snatchblock. I've seen this before also. I'm going with a 9.5 Comeup so it's hardwired and if I'm really stuck use a snatchblock. I do a lot of my wheeling alone. Yeah it gives me the willys to just have wifi especially when I think of some of the places I've been. I got trapped in a snowstorm in the Gila wilderness and they couldn't even get helicopters in. My a$$ was cold and I walked about 200 miles to a pickup point.
@steve78 thanks for the offer. May take you up on it. I don't see why a Warn could not be hardwired also. Guess I should call warn on that.

My comeup has been great aside from my questionable wiring job causing the ground to come loose. I have the 12.5, synthetic rope, Wifi and wired.

That is what I like about the Comeup. Super waterproof, hardwired and wireless. But the 12,000 is a bit slow. Same motor as the 9.5 and different gearing. Of course when your butt is stuck being a bit slow is not such a big deal if it gets you back on the trail. :)

Legit concern I’ve had too...but after Warn redesigned the remote, it's been flawless.

I would like to have a wired backup too...

On the other hand...
One reason I went with wireless Zeon was local security.

Local idiots have wreaked havoc with winches in the area...thinking it's funny to release your winch clutch and pull the line out & then wrap it around thing. Can lead to serious damage, especially at night if you don't happen to noticed what they've done. The Zeon Platinum's clutch is released internally via the remote...meanng no one can screw around with it with a mere flip of the physical clutch release.

Yeah....I know what you mean. Kids messing with things is a pain when you have interesting & expensive equipment that gets their attention.
I was discussing with Ben how he felt about the wireless........and we both agreed that Warn would not put out something without thorough testing. But it still makes me nervous. I am sure it could be hardwired also. I may call Warn and talk to them.
The other thing is you have to mount the antenna up higher on the bumper if you foresee crossing winch depth water.
But the Platinum 12 is the only one that is fast and waterproof. The 9.5xp is very fast and is really a beast. The motor is "parallel series wound." This means it pulls at the same speed even if weight is added. So it is really powerful. Also uses a lot of amperage. I'd get one if it was waterproof. It is the only winch around that is parallel series wound. All others are "series wound" and give a big hard pull right at the beginning then slow down a little.
But of course when you are stuck it is that first tug that is most important and gets the vehicle moving. If not then it's snatch block time.
I wonder how long that Warn with wifi and no hardwiring has been out???? Just thinking out loud......

The wireless Platinum has been out since 2012 I think. They DID redo the remote though. I know this because I was shipped one that was faulty...and found out through the grapevine that they had replaced large retailer stock...and the remote is what was changed.

Warn sent me a new remote without even waiting for proof that I had one...which was nice. When it arrived, there were subtle differences that let me know they had made changes....even though physically and numerically it looked the same. The one visual difference was the screen coating. The original had an anti glare screen...but all it did was make everything look dim & blurry. The replacement had no such coating and the view was clear as glass. Much better.

More importantly, there is no connection time at all. Just boom. And range is farther than the rope even reaches.

The reason I mounted the box on top of my bumper even though it would fit inside the bumper...is that the box is where the wireless receiver resides. Higher the better. If you are TRULY concerned about being water or mud buried, you can add a receiver extension, which places the receiver under the hood or even higher if you prefer.

Here's where mine sits...much safer as a transmitter above the bumper rather than within the winch-mount.

You'd have to be engine deep to submerge it:

So the winch itself might have been briefly under water, but the receiver was well above the water line:

Good to know that wireless system has been out a while. Ben said he had never heard of any problems from anyone.

Thanks for the info

Anyone have a Warn VR 10S loaded into an ARB delux? I have concerns about accessing the plug to plug in the wired controller. I can reach in through the top holes in bumper but I am not sure I’ll be able to get the angle to actually plug the controller in given the feet forward orientation. I am super close to pulling the trigger and buying it.

Should be able to rotate it just a notch....clock it as they say. I'd call and ask Slee Offroad or another dealer like Jason at Trail Tailor.
It should work on any Arb.

Talk to Kurt at @cruiseroutfit (Cruiser Outfitters). If I remember correctly, I think Kurt said they installed a new Warn VR in their 200 (not the racer, but the silver, fully-built one). Guessing it was a 10, but not sure.

We've mounted quite a few into 200 bars, mine included. We often remote mount the solenoid box in the lower bumper with the plug accessible from the front. Clean and tidy. @Utah200 might have some pics handy? We did his this way.

I have to have something waterproof. I cross a river fairly often that can get up to 3 feet or a little better. I talked to Warn today and tjhey told me any of the Zeon series would work. I have been leery of a winch that is not hardwired...is just wireless remote. The guy at Warn said yeah they occasionally hear about someone stranded because the wireless remote quit working or ran out of power or was run over. :)
So he said if I was leery of wireless remote the other Zeon series are IP68 also. Not just the Platinum. Funny they don't put that on many sites. So I may relocate antenna or selenoid box or whatever to the top of my Arb bumper.....or somewhere about 3.5 feet high :)

Edit: That is if I do go with Warn.....Comeup is looking good to me. Especialy that crazy water submersion test they do. Wow!

Stumbled across this new winch from Superwinch. The EXP series. Great specs. Waterproof and fast. Setting up shop in Oregon now. This is the only fast 12,000lb winch I have found other than the warn Zeon Platinum 12
Welcome to Superwinch

Here is a comparison to it and the Warn Platinum series also. Very interesting features.

I’ve got a Warn VR 12S ordered into ChiTown4X4 along with the solenoid relocation kit and the hawse fairlead spacer. I really want the solenoid inside the ARB bumper so there’s no interference with the radar sensor (my 200 is a ‘13) but if I have to mount to the top of the bumper I will. I’ve heard the radar cruise will work but the pedestrian collision avoidance will show interference with the solenoid box on the top plate. I’ll post the verdict once the install is done, probably mid December when my MetalTech sliders are expected to arrive.
