What type of rear doors do you have on your hard top? To my knowledge dome light was not an option. Until 9/73 the previous dome light was bolted to the cap. No hole in the B pillar

It's got ambulance doors on the back. If you listen closely, you can probably hear them rattling from wherever you are ha ha ha

Following up on @Living in the Past's post , this is where the dome light is located on my Jan 1973 and a picture of where the supply wires leave the wiper harness, penetrate the windshield frame, and rest in the hardtop channel.

Thank you so much for the photos. My wires go inside the windshield frame for sure. I wonder if I have a later dome light on a earlier top...

In any case I've ordered a new dome light as the lens for mine vaporized when I removed it... I'll enlarge some holes and make the wiring look factory. The only way anyone will know it's not is with the light removed.

And given the amount of rust and bondo on this vehicle...the dome light being factory correct is the least of my concerns
