I was doing some work in the engine bay and I noticed a particular wire was slightly exposed and fraying a bit. Can anyone help identify what wire this is? Also, to prevent anymore fraying, should I just wrap with electrical tape or do something else? Pic below for reference. It's the green connection.

If that was someone else car, I'd cut the whole thing off and redo with new.
If it was my car I'd make a note and slather scotchkote on it.

this from ballenger would be a OEM replacement. Anything else on amazon or ebay I wouldn't buy.
OEM only. That kit will have real terminals and seals also.

Thank you for that, I will put that on the "to do" list. Do you know what connection this is for?

Also, does anyone know what the connection below the green one is? I'm referring to the one with black heat shrink around it.

They are both ECT (engine coolant temp) (AKA water temp sensors) IIRC Top is ECT for ECU, the lower for ECT dash gauge.
In 2003, the 100 series 4.7L, changed to just the top one. But keep the lower ECT sensor, without wire to it.
In 2006, the lower sensor was removed. The front water bypass, only has the one sensor port.
