I am putting on the windshield using new/old weatherstrip which was 4 years from PO parts box, weatherstrip is 3 - 4inches short. Can this be stretched to fit? Anyone experienced this?

I've got new ones coming from cruiser parts, I'll let you know what I think of the quality when I get them

This PIG that I am working came from Gary(Smukster of PA that he sold to a guy from MD). The windshield rubber was from a 74 FJ55 that Gary parted out. I'll see what the upholstery guy says tomorrow. Thanks nuclearlemon.

mighta shrunk a bit, might be able to stretch it. I got mine from SOR. the gasket was ok, but it was still a bear to put in. works the same way the 60 series windscreens do...I had that one done "professionally" they guy wouldn't let me help( you NEED 2 people ) and almost broke the glass a buncha times, almost destroyed the gasket a buncha times and took 2 hours to do it...I ALMOST tipped the poor bastad, but I felt he owed me some beers after biting my nails to the quick...

You may be able to soften the rubber with wome lanolin or Goop hand cleaner before the install.

i tried the lanolin thing to restore the rubber, not impressed. makes a huge mess and the rubber is all gooey. i've used whestley's bleache white and a stiff brush to clean the hard layer that occurs on the rubber. the lanolin may do the same thing, i don't know because i tried the lanolin after doing the whestleys

Thanks Pablo. Windshield installation postponed to Sunday AM.
He wants to install first the new headliner then the windshield.

thank you,
monty

Yes! Headliner first, then the fixed glass (windshield & cargo glass)!

Good to know.
I used Goop on the 40 windshield rubber when some d-bag broke my glass and it did make things nice and soft.

haven't yet installed the w/s rubber, but so far, i going to call it a go. we quickly compared it to one of my windshields and it looks dang good. enough that i'm ordering two more (one for twrecks and one for the pickle, the two i got are going on my blue pig and bosshogs rig).

After a week of workout (stretch/pulling) of the windshield rubber, the upholstery and body guy have decided that rubber will not fit. I followed Nuclearlemon's to get a new windshield rubber from CruiserParts.

Thanks,
monty
