I am studying up on how to install my own OEM windshield. The FSM has some vague areas, and I was wondering if any of you guys can help me fill in the blanks. I have everything except the windshield.
The FSM simply states STEP 3 "Install new stoppers onto the glass".
Does the OEM windshield have location markings for the stoppers?
Stoppers do not have self adhesive so do you use the "3 Cement Black" or equivalent to glue them to the windshield?
What is measurement "A" telling me? 9mm? The stopper is approximately 1 inch long.
Is measurement "B" from the edge of the glass or is that a black area on the windshield and the upper line is the edge of the glass?
Any help or pictures explaining the stopper installation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
I had an aftermarket windshield installed about a year and a half ago and no stoppers were used. Mine was leaking right at the top passenger side where it looks like one of those stoppers should have been, but likely wasn't. Haven't had a problem with it yet.
Ok, reboot it is. This is what it looks like after cleanup :( Good excuse to get some tools :)

2 years later and now my daughter needs a first car. For some reason - LC 100 is her "dream car" go figure. For me - if I get used car that I have to work on - have to be LX. I just loved how it drove and it is easy to work on. Soo.. Search began. My main requirements were "all original", preferably below 200k, no paint job, no rust, no mods. And cheaper then most of them we see around...

I've read your thread and am leaning towards doing it myself since my glass shop told me that they will not warranty the installation if i install dams onto the windshield despite the FSM instructing to do so.
They also told me there is no way to know where to put the stoppers on aftermarket windshields.
but after looking at your thread, it looks like theres a dot where its supposed to go. is that how you figured out where to put the stopper?
Nope. Crickets from the forum on this one. I went ahead and had Safelite install the windshield. I had the FSM for the tech and he installed the dams per specification. I plugged the holes in the body for the spacers using electrical tape from underneath and filling in the hole on top using a little black RTV. I installed all the trim for various reasons. They said they would warranty it even though I was installing the trim/rivets etc. myself.
