Apparently newbies aren’t allowed to edit post lol. That’s a new one I’ve seen where newbies aren’t allowed to start a new thread, or pm. This is a new silly one I quess.

Update
So ten is the magic number now I can edit my post!

I know this in an old thread but I found it when I was searching for the black window moldings. Garage Alpha doesn’t carry them anymore but the Black line window moldings fit as well.

Hi @AlmonteVG - what website is this? I went to a few local shops by me to get a chrome delete estimate and the least was $1200.00 lol

What is the purpose for deleting the chrome? What function does the delete perform? For the life of me I can't see why it needs to be done.

They sold the Prado belt moulding but seems like they don’t carry it anymore. I ordered the 2022 black line mouldings from lexusofwesleychapel for almost the same price. The front end is probably the expensive part but i installed the black line front end already so it’s like a smoked chrome so I just need to blackout a few smaller pieces now. The belt moulding would of probably been a pain since there so small but mine were beat up a little so might as well get the black ones.

What is the purpose of anything if you want to get Kyrie Irving on me lol. It’s a fad, back when I was in high school and we all had our pos cars in car clubs the fad was to chrome everything out because chrome stood for luxurious and look at me! I never liked chrome and actually had gun metal 19’’s on my accord when everyone else was getting or dreaming about getting chromed out spinners!!

When people started blacking out stuff it was cool, modern, different. Now a days sadly everyone and there mother has a blacked out or midnight edition. So yes maybe the shark has been jumped now that it became mainstream but I’ve been doing this since my first car in 2000. This following image makes me sad, especially because I agree that it looks so much cooler than a regular edition one.

Fair deal so it's for looks only. Zero functionality. I only asked because I can't relate to spending money or modifying for looks. I live in a whole different world. Function is number one for any modification. Now if I had sponsors then this conversation might be different.

Absolutely agree. As an engineer, form has to follow function. Albeit, if something looks cool, if I can justify some form of function for it, I may do it, hence my snorkel. Yeah, I'm not fording any 4 foot deep crossings but it does provide cleaner air when on a dusty trail behind my club when off roading and much cooler air than that being sucked up right next to the front fender and not to mention a slight ram air effect. So, yeah, I can at least justify that.

But also agree with the different spokes for different folks mentality. What I like is not usually anyone else's cup of tea.
I'm sure a lot of people look at my rig and go, "My gosh! What in the world did he do to that Lexus, and WHY would he do it in the first place!!"
To quote Pee Wee Herman:

I followed your build and can see it is very purpose built. Just the fact you took it on Holcomb Creek trail and got through is amazing in itself. A lot of builds and modifications (such as yours) are not for me but I have a different idea what I'm using my rigs for. Now If only this dang recession we are in will bite the dust and pricing get reasonable......

Mostly for the looks and an imaginary 65+ HP. Looking for a more stealth look without any bling bling lol

Well I’m half way there we’ll sorta. The drivers side molding’s came in but the passengers side ones are on back order until the end of the month. I couldn’t wait until then so I snapped these bad boys in. The look is so clean I’m extremely happy with them.

I haven’t made an appointment to blackout the rest of the chrome yet because I’m undecided what I want to do wheel wise. I’m not sure if I want to just have my OEM one’s powder coated black and eventually I would upgrade my tires to the wild peaks. I do also love the look of the trd wheels with the wildpeaks of course. With these options I would eventually do a 2-3” lift but lately I‘ve been trying to talk myself into the 19’s which would automatically kills off my dreams of the manly off road look! No Falkens but she would be the prettiest of the soccer mom rides.

Did you replace the molding for the 3rd window?

I just got an email today that garage alpha has them back in stock. I’m still waiting for the passengers side ones from the dealer. The rear quarter windows don’t have trim, the chrome is actually integrated as part of the window. The plan is to eventually get those, my handles, and the license plate chrome wrapped. I’m thinking of getting the gx460 emblem wrapped as well. I would love to just remove it but after all these years the paint would probably be faded around it.

@AlmonteVG - my set of 2021 sport 19's currently for grabs will go great with that stealth mode you're going for :zilla: vibes man.

Are most simply vinyl wrapping their chrome window trim or are you ordering the black Prado pieces? If so, any suggestions on where to buy and part numbers?
Wrapped them, door handles, and rear barn door chrome.

Did you ever finish your chrome delete? Looks like alpha garage has trim pieces in stock. Also looks like the blackline part numbers from 2022 are no longer valid.
So I had the chrome on the handle and the door moldings deleted. The ones on the rear quarter windows I had wrapped as well. It came out really good but I just traded it in for a GLE with midnight package lol.

Haha I know this is an old thread but thanks for the pictures. You think I should buy them from alpha garage? They are about $145 shipped.
Not sure how much the new blackline part numbers would be.

Chances are it’s exactly the same part than the Fline and cheaper to boot. This is what I ordered previously.
