Window felt source? Digging but not finding:/

Alright guys and gals. Just ordered a truck-load of window felt and rubber squeegy liner. I'll post some pics and my $.02 on the materials when I get them.

That said...is everyone going the Fastenal route for install, or using 3M adhesive, or Velcro, or...?

Holy cow is JC Whitney behind! Just got part of my first order/shipment:/ I have the inner felt and wiper for the windows, but they had no window channel pieces in stock. Sooooo...I need to figure out another option. What do you guys think about this?

StanPro STEEL CORE WINDOW CHANNELS - JCWhitney

Or another option off the main page...

StanPro STEEL CORE WINDOW CHANNELS - JCWhitney

I'm in the home stretch for buttoning this puppy up, and the rain is already heading into town:( Any help/insight will be MOST appreciated!!!

Thanks all!

The piece is made by Fairchild Industries.

Item # 0452, UnbeadedFlexible Flocked Rubber, Uncovered, 96 in on Fairchild Industries

JC Whitney doesn't even list it anymore so I have no idea what is up with that. I need more of it myself so I will start looking for a new source. Can't say I have really been happy with JC anyway. Unless the item has been discontinued by the manufacturer, somebody else has to carry it.

Edit: I need to correct myself on this. What I actually got from JC was made by "Precision". Their part number is 75 0452. From what I can tell, it is the same thing as the Fairchild #0452. Still need to find a new source for either one.

Looks like a cool piece - are you trying it?

Found some! Here's the catch...

Dear Jake,
Thank you for the inquiry. This part comes in standard carton quantities of 25pcs @ 96in long and cost $6.26 a pc. This product is in stock and can ship in 3-5 business days. Give me a call at the number below if you would like to order.

Thanks,

Looks like we might need a group order 'cause I don't think I can use 25 pieces at 8' long each!!! Thoughts?

It's a pretty important piece Pablo. Anyone who has replaced the runs that the door glass slides up and down in has used it. The stuff made by Precision that everyone had gotten from JC worked perfectly. Snapped right in and looked good.

jdog35 - Give me another day to work on this. I'm needing more as well for 2 more doors and refuse to believe JC was the only one carrying it. There has to be another distributor. I'll also check with Precision. If I'm left with no choice, I'll buy the case and split it up as needed but I need to do the "leg work" first.

I called Precision and gave them the number that was on my JC invoice. 75 0452 From what I had been able to find, private individuals couldn't order from them but the lady I spoke with said no problem. She hooked me up with 2 more lengths of the stuff. It does cost more. $13.86 for 8ft. It's still cheaper than JC was and I didn't have to buy a whole case. I'll let you know if everything is ok when it gets here.

If anybody decides to order for themselves before I get it and make sure all is well, don't get mad at me if something is wrong. I'm going by the number on the JC invoice and hoping everything on the invoice is right. Already threw all the packaging for the previous bunch out since I figured all I had to do was call JC again.

Man thanks a ton cracked!!! This is a huge help! And yes, $13.86 for 8 feet is a great price! I'm all eyes/ears waiting to see what you've come up with because, as Oregonians know, I'm quickly running out of sunny days. The rain will be here soon:(

I feel like I should jump in on this - sorry late to the thread. Are we doing a group buy? I haven't even started purchasing any rubber or weatherstripping yet but by the sound of it, resources are quickly drying up! Please let me know if I need to kick some $ in for my own set. Thx!

Could very well come down to that. You saw my quote up there, and that would DEFINITELY need to be a group order. What the heck would I do with all that extra anyway:)

I really don't think this has turned into an issue of supplies disappearing and becoming unavailable. I think it's simply an issue of JC Whitney not carrying it anymore and making life a bit more difficult. Precision Parts was real nice to deal with and I've gotten a confirmation and receipt already. Total cost including the shipping was $27.72 for two packages of stripping. That is much better than what I paid JC so I'm pretty happy.

On a side note, I dug around in the shop trash can and found one of the old wrappers that I got from JC. It has the Precision Parts label on it and it great big numbers has 75 0452 so the part number I ordered is good.

Little update from the Fairchild angle...received a sample from them and it looks money to me! Soon as it stops raining here I'll snap a photo of the sample and one of it in the window channel. I think we may have a winner!

The channel run I ordered from Precision arrived and it's the exact same stuff that I had gotten from JC. Same packaging, same everything, and at a better price. Also got good service.

Sounds like we both found two independent avenues for this, which is good news. What's the price-point from your guys?
