Wilma's Buildup thread - FJ45LV

I have others and can email larger files if needed. The diagrams are very grainy so I am slowing going through them with Adobe and cleaning up the labels and adding notes to each location as to color and description to make working on the harness easier. It is a real PIA having to flip between the diagram and the list of functions so I figured it would be worth the effort to get a clean diagram etc. I will post some pics later. It is one of those things you do when you are bored.

update !!!
i got the 3 wire to 2 wire converter and hooked it up it came actually as a 5-4 wire with a ground and tail light run through as well. I didn't bother with those... ends up i needed the ground connected so its all wired and everything works perfectly no more brake light hazards not working. so that just leaves the wiper switch to go yeah.... and a brake line

but the lights all work very excited about that

Very cool Jason.

I'll play around with the wiper switch on the bench. I'm sure we can get it to do something with the old motors. So you'll have the LV next weekend?

hmm well Jim its up to you in that you hold the golden chalous (ie the wiper switch). i htink I have fox lined up for the brakes could get it in for inspection Monday morning.....

Currently sitting in the office "not working" . If you're going to give it a go, I can send you a diagram, and you can use a $5 switch from Benny's. Won't be pretty but it will work. We can do it up right at the FG. :bounce:

If you can do the converter you can do this. All you need is a cheapo 20A toggle switch. :wrench:

I think at thise stage I am out of time for it to make it to FG

I tracked down the brake fittings I needed but that is still an open circute and I would need to to get aligned and inspected which I just don't have time to do before this coming weekend. I think it would be wiser to road test it a bit before driving it 4+ hours on the highway too.
plus I don't have a hitch on the lv yet to tow my trailer. so while the lv will be on hold until I get back from FG my fj62 is prolly the better option at this point anyway

while time goes by....
I have been squeezing in time on Wilma but its been hard to find time the last few weeks.
this past week end I was up in NH at the Fall Gathering and picked up so useful parts for Wilma. I got a
fj62 complete rear axle that will eventually get swapped under and I got a later model speedo cluster so as to match up the split case speedo cable to the smaller style nipple on the back of the cluster. so Instead of just using the newer cluster I have them both apart and am swapping parts into the old one.basically I have mounted the newer speedo inot the old housing. but want to chage the back drop in tthat the new back drop has the turn signals in the speedo and I have my turn signals outboard of the cluster on the dash. anyone know how to get the needle off?
Fox came over and got the brake system closed up we were short one pipe fitting so I picked it up and installed it last night.this week end I will fill and pressure bleed the system and pray for no leaks. then its out of the garge it goes under its own power for the first time since 1983 or so.. crazy!!!

So the speedo would swap between the two? I wasn't sure with that new crap.

I believe the needle just gently pries off, pay attention to where it lines up on the shaft, I don't think it's indexed.

got the speedo's pulled apart and one back together last night just need to drill the hole in the firewall and hook it up. when I was inline at NAPA a few week ago they had one of those racks with all sorts of odd auto tools and I spied a interior door panel seperator kind of a funky thing that works the opposite of a pair of pliers more like a lock ring remover that you would use on an axle shaft. anyway Impulsed bought it cause I knew I would have to remove my door panels to fix some things and really didn't want to screw them up. but the little tool worked great for popping of fthe needle on the speedo.
I was careful Jim.... hopefully careful enough. still got some stuff to do before the test drive on Saturday but getting close.

toda was a day thqt was 4 years plus in the making. I would first like to thank everyone and anyone who helped Wilma get this far. for today Mike fox and I drove wilma for the first time. we got it out of the garage under its own power and decieded to take down to my parents house. I still have a grin so with out further ado
