Hey guys, I’ve got a 97 Land cruiser 1fzfe with 193,000 miles. I just purchased it and it seems to be leaking quite a bit of oil. I took off the inspection plate and snapped a few pictures. I’ve got an appointment for a shop to do the crank and oil pump seal on Tuesday. Does that look like it is the source of my leak? I see some RTV on the Block seal tool pan front seal. Is that oem ? but from the dripping on the inspection plate. it looks like the oil is coming from the oil pump seal area any thoughts or suggestions. I believe the oil pump and crank gaskets Should hopefully fix most of my leaking

The most likely source of that leak is the oil pump cover gasket (formed O-ring) but there are a couple of leaks that might add to the mess.
The distributor has an O-ring on the narrow part of the housing that slides into the head, that can leak down from above, often it makes a mess
on the alternator. There's also occasionally a leak/seep just above the oil pump cover coming from a pry slot in the timing chain cover.
The correct fix is to remove the timing chain cover but that's a major job, so a "cheat" quickie fix is to super clean out that pry slot and around
it then stuff in some sealant but it's very important to clean out that slot extremely well otherwise the quick fix wont' work.

Ditto if the oil pump o-ring hasn't been replaced it's the most likely. If you go in there the crank seal isn't that much more work. Having the right tools for the crank bolt is a must in either case.

Hu! those parts are supposed to be silver?!
I'm working through my leaks too. At 300K she's leaking like the Exxon Valdez.
Your front alternator belt is kaput too, just in case you hadn't noticed.

Belts looks like they've got some miles left on them still...

Here's mine when I replaced them:

Yeah, did let them go a bit too long. My excuse... well, wasn't feeling great for a while. A month after a heart attack & a triple bypass I decided to replace belts since they had been making a 'noise' for little while :) Feb 2020 - memorable date for me :hillbilly:

cheers,
george.

I had the same leaks as yours on the 298k LX450 and just did my oil pump cover and crank 2 months ago.......no leaks. Now to the rear main seal!
