Will it fit in the garage?

Hello,

The baseline that took 2 years is now over. Now I can address the suspension. My goal is to be able to park in the garage, without airing down or adding weight. Currently I have 7.5 inches of clearance between the wooden beam and the roof rails. It's bone stock, full tank of gas, 3rd row removed, on what I assume are the original coils (19.5 F, 19.75R), tires are 275/60/16 (31inch).

Was thinking 35s on dobinson 222/223, which should fit, 2 inches of ground clearance plus 2-3 inches of lift.

But 37s? 3 inches of ground clearance plus 3-4 inches of lift with the 2.5 inch VT coils. The math adds up, but I have a hard time believing it would fit with 82" of garage clearance. I think my sagging rear springs are messing up the math.

Will also have some weight up front, either hidden winch or ARB bumper with a winch. Rear is getting a bolt on swing arm for now, sliders in the middle. I do plan on a rack but would consider going rackless to reduce overall height. I usually drive with 100lbs or so of tools/gear which I removed for the measurements mentioned previously.

Would appreciate if anyone could chime in with their experience. I searched, but didn't find anything recent and there are new coil options these days. I already looked into making the garage taller, not going to happen.

Thanks!

I should have clarified, that is the height of the garage door/opening. Ceiling is 8ft.

I reinstalled my rack today and with 35s on a 3” lift the cruiser sits 80” tall

With the aftermarket rack 81” and with awning brackets 85”.

Hope this helps.

37s would probably put me in the 81/82” range so for you it would pretty damn close

Edit: corrected measurements

Very helpful. Thank you!

I did a a more accurate measurement. It’s 80” to the highest point on the body. The roof crowns which makes it harder to measure.

I don’t have an OEM rack so that adds probably another 1”

So your probably realistically at 81”

Appreciate it. Sounds it will barely fit with 35s and 3 inch lift with the oem rack. I definitely need an aftermarket roof rack for trips, was thinking prinsu because its low profile. Hopefully that rack isn't any taller than OEM,will have to do some homework.

I'm in the foothills north of LA and we get critters of all shapes and sizes, and biggest concern is rodents if I park it outside as a non daily driver.
Maybe I should go with a less aggressive setup, or sell the house 😂
