work on a 1st gen 4runner? I am probably going to be buying an 86runner has bad tires and I have practically new set of tires on 60 rims. Thanks.

Assuming you're talking about the 15" OEM chrome rims, I think they should work fine. IFS rims have more BS, so your rear tires may stick out a little. I don't think there's any issues in the front with rubbing though.
I've seen this setup locally, so apparently it works.

Didn't work out, the 4runner had a nice frame but the front fenders were rusted through, particle board sun roof, rusted out tail gate w/ no glass. The guy would not budge on price so I had to pass, oh well.

I had particle board... I didn't have any sheet metal... I may go that route later...
