Whaooo!!! I'm only 26, and I'm not wrestling a trans out by myself.... maybe if the t-case was off already... You could try setting some cardboard boxes under it and get a ratchet strap to pull it to the rear? Of course a trans jack is the real way to do it.... :D

ratchet strap is a great idea, this tranny is shot i just need to get it out. even if it hit the floor like a sack of taters it would be ok.

oh and there is no transfer case on it, and i do have a tranny jack. its just in texas :bang:

Yes, there are 4 bolts that hold it to the trans to the trans mount and 4 more that hold the mount on the cross member. If you take it apart in the middle, it would be messy and I guess take some weight off.... but at some point you'll need to get the input shaft and bell housing off..... I say get a strap and put some tension on the trans, then get a BFH and go to work around the bell housing. Maybe use a block so you don't break it... But it's yours, so do what feels good..... :D If you're 128% sure all the bolts are out, then my guess is the clutch disk is rusted to the input shaft, or the pilot bearing is seized to the end of the input shaft. Either way is not going to be fun to get out.... Try the strap and hammer first....

PLEASE get an Advanced Adaptors buyers guide, FREE!! It ID's all Toy Trans/TC's

like the thread title says, i was trying to find out if a tranny out of a 94 4Runner will fit my 2X4 pickup, i have the 22re motor.

also how hard would it be to put the axles of the runner under my truck?

i know where there is a wrecked runner and i can probably gets the parts really cheap, which is good since i'm broke anyway. but regardless of how cheap if they won't fit i don't want to get them.

From now on learn to locate the C/Tr/A/Tm stickers/ ID plates.

V6 and 4cyl have different B.H's and bolt patterns.

This will help out immensely in quick junk yard and possible purchase I.D's

Look for it but dont let on you know it! ;);)

So you intend to swap 4WD trans & transfercase plus IFS under your 2WD pickup? Ambitious. If the 4runner is a 22re manual the trans swap is cake. The front drive is another story. I would strongly consider a live axle swap up front, for the guy that doesn't mind welding on his frame it is just too easy. The rear axle will be handy when you get your SAS done.

If motor is alike, tranny yes, IFS, NO!!!

SFA it ;)

No. Unless you have a rare 22re 4Runner, the only way to bolt the R150 tranny to the 22re is w/ the R151 bellhousing... good luck finding one.

As for the 4wd swap, your only option is a solid axle swap.

All turbos have a 150 series tranns, look for one of those, ie 2WD and 4WD.

its easier to buy a 4x4 and be done with it. cause this aint going to happen.

Not necessarily.

I guess it would come down to how the IFS mounts to the frame on the 2x4 vs. 4x4... I've never looked at a 2wd up close..... :D

That information is horribly incorrect. It holds true only of two vehicles: 4Runners (90-95 and 96-02) and the Tacoma pre-runner. The 2wd pickups are a completely different animal; different front suspension, different frame, etc.

Even if the donor 4Runner has a 22re, it likely has the W59 transmission rather than the W56, and therefore comes w/ a chain drive tcase and different tcase mounts. I don't think I'd use that combo, personally, as I think the W56/gear tcase is a better solution.

I was under the impression that ONLY the V6's and AT's had chain TC's?

(ah, I cant even find that code in my AA book )

It's guts would fall out!, seriously you'd contaminate everything, dont do that!
What will that accomplish? you'd still have to get the BH bolts, and if it would come apart (I dont think it will) I'd be scared it would all fall apart.

WHOA DUDE!!!(not you 2ndGen)

The 2WD's have a semi hidden 14mm bolt that comes in from the front side!!

Driver side just above the block to tranny stiffener thingy.

And get the exhaust clamp off the 17 and 12
