The next time one like this comes up, I'll take it complete. No paint to strip. I'd straighten out what can be, install generic flooring, paint the exterior something boring, and keep the dash and interior with the distressed misery.

This would wonderfully, "patina" as well. Areas like the cowl Sand with 80 grit, just so it is smooth to the touch, nothing more, primer in flat, then 200 grit to reveal as much, or as little, of what is underneath as you like. I did that on a set of old doors that are intended for a newer truck. Even the fresh welds, left as beads, look fantastic when you do that. The best part of it is it doesn't attract major patina attention, just a few highlights. Instead of whole patina areas, you have only patina lines/stripes. As most patina trucks get old and cheap looking after a few years to my eye.
