Love this thread. On July 4th, was playing fetch with the tennis ball and my 5 yr old Chcolate Lab, Sydney, was running at full speed and had just caught up to the ball when suddenly she collapsed in a heap - howling in pain - seeming going lame in her hind leg(s). Being a a holiday, we had to go to the animal emergency hospital for help. THis morning had to transfer her to her normal vet and she still has yet to regain use of her hind legs. The best guess in that she have experienced FCE or Fibrocartilaginous Embolism -where a tiny piece of backbone mass breaks off and get's lodge in the spinal cord - killing off some cells. Here's a prime athlete cut down in a second - being looked at by a neurosurgeon tomorrow - maybe operated on. I'm not a worrier but...so hard to see her like this - sometimes life sucks.

Good luck, man. I'm a lab guy myself, and I often worry about something like this happening when he's chasing balls or doves WOT. I hope it works out.

well because

its actually my brothers dog. but i feed her too so in a way it mine as well i guess. her name is venus and she is a german shepard. she always wants to go on a ride in the toyota truck or cruisers. the german shepard we had before was cane, they shot him one night back in fall of 1999 , he whent to the front door of the house then jumped to the back door to try to get our attention but no one was home and he died by the house . punks that shot him would mess with him from the street and he bit there hands when they stuck them in. they are willing to protect you and your family.
