Alright.. I have a 74' Pig with a new EMPI 38 Carb, NEW Mechanical Fuel Pump, New Fuel Lines, and a NEW Fuel filter.... I installed a Holley fuel pressure regulator with gauge and for some reason I am not getting any fuel pressure to register....

When I drive the truck it dogs out like it's starving for fuel or running way to rich?

Does anyone have advice for me?

Should I install a electric fuel pump back by the tank? I assume that the mechanical pump is enough as a second pump was not required by the factory equipment?

Any advice would be appreciated...

Venting in the fuel tank? Do you have a return line from the carb? Try running with the fuel cap off...
Although, I've heard that some of those aftermarket carbs require a fuel pressure regulator and an electrical fuel pump.

Mechanical fuel pumps are not designed to build head pressure to my knowledge . They will have a little but not enough to move the regulator spring. I have never heard of using a regulator with mech. But I have been wrong before:)

I think that's it there. Try taking out that regulator in order to isolate the issue., If not it, try the vent issue.

Did you have fuel running in your line before you put on the carb? Look at what you changed and go from there.

Some carbs do seem to need pressure regulators. I recall putting dual Webers on an old VW and the instructions called for a 4PSI fuel pressure...

Thank you guys for your help... I'm thinking it might be a fuel line blockage caused by crap in the fuel tank. Yesterday evening and this morning I was registering 5 PSI on my fuel pressure gauge when previously it wasn't registering pressure at all..

The Cruiser has been running awesome but I need to drop the tank and have it hot tanked... I ordered an electric fuel pump that I'll be installing back by the fuel tank...

The Empi Carb calls for 3-4 PSI..
