according to the owner, it is a factory half top, but nobody in the fj25 section where the old cruiser fanatics reside has ever seen one.

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what a 25 is worth?
I came across one awhile ago. Was in okay shape.
Not to bad of rust. Still drivable. Had been repainted 10-15 years ago.
Looked like a good truck for a resto. It was on a 5 acre peice of property.
Though about knocking on the door. But a 25 isn't my dream rig, and I didn't have much extra time. Its a few hours from here. I am not sure the owner wanted to part with it. Still looked to be driven at times (and maybe insurared a few years ago). There was not to many pine needles on it, and it was a liitle in the back. Perhaps a plow truck or something.

Maybe I could buy it, and trade is for another cruiser?

Cheers,
N.

By the way. The 40 above looks like a real nice truck too.
Lately I have been dreaming of troopies, and a FJ45 (BJ45) in the same color, and about the same size.

it seems that 25s are not worth much on the open market. the only people collecting the really old cruisers are die hards and a perusal of the 25 section in mud will tell you they are all classic old school penny pinching cruiserheads :D.

conventional wisdom with collectors is the newer the 40 the better due to practical usability/drivability. I talked to a guy with a very decent but not perfect frame off resto'd 63 FJ40 in michigan a while ago who could not get $10k for it on ebay or through SOR and the other usual places these things get sold. I was too cheap to buy it so I guess I'm an old school penny pincher too :D well actually, that plus I just don't like freeborn red :D

anyway, if I had not just bought a 67 FST i'd be all over that 25 and i still might be if you should happen to pass it again in a few months after my bank account has recovered :D

Helllo Semlin,

What is an FST? (Dare I ask, at the expense of sounding dumb :) )
Forestry Service Truck? I know BC forestry used to use the old series land rovers. I have seen a few around. And lots of pics on the roverlanders site. In fact the BC forestries how-to winich video's for employee's have the old series rovers in them.

As for the 25. Next time I am near, I will try and stop by.
I only spotted it because I was a passenger, and was "looking" carefully though all the fields, and yards instead of driving (I always have an eye out for interesting finds). Never know what one might find burried in someones yard.

I find all sorts of things. Unimogs, DeLorian, 50's Power Wagon (would love one with a 6BT and Dana60's) classic this and that...... Most guys love to talk about them, but never want to sell. Anyways, I will have to stop and talk to the chap the next time I go through. All my friends know I love cruisers, so everytime they see something unusual, they always tell me about it and take a pic. Same goes for zuks (all my friends are zuk an yota fans).

Might of found a "batch" of FJ45 trucks which have been parked for 20 years after they were taken out of service in the late 80's. I am very interested right now, and looking into it. Might be the chance for me to build a 45 and sell the extra's. :) :)

Cheers,
N.

nick, for the record I am in penticton these days and I am willing to make road trips to assist you in hunting this kind of prey :D

Easy guys. They are mine first. :)

I don't need to be greedy, and I don't mind sharing.
But (IF IT HAPPENS) the plan was to build my own (take the best doors, hood, etc....).
Then sell off the others at a FAIR price, to pay for the one (plus fix it up).
Really depends on how much they want. And if they will sell.
I should find out in a few days.

Once I find out. I can try to go look at them, and snap some pics.

Cheers,
Nick

Quick update.
That batch of FJ45's didn't work out.

I got wind of some that Tembec used to own, that where stored after they were taken out of service on the late 80's. My attempts to track them down, and have proved not good. Worst thing is, my girlfriend saw a 45 getting pulled out on a trailer from a local Tembec yard.

So if anyone has more in's, and knows some tembec managment, feel free to try.
If you find them, I would like one too. :)

Cheers,
N.
