Who's running wheel spacers post lift?

Cool that you could mod the old caps.

I would be very interested in seeing as many pics of 80s with spacers as I could.

TIA

Eric, what about the Rock Crawler wheels you see at 4Wheelparts ? They come in 16x10 with around 4" or more BS .. If I don't go spacers, I'll likely go that route. They're a steel wheel, and ring in at $72 a pc I think.

I definitely don't want 10" rims. I want to keep my tires on the wheels when I air down. I'm only planning a 315/75/16.

I put on j springs and 35s. Looked cool. Then I put 1-1/8 spacers and it looked like a beast. I didn't drive it much with out them so I can't comment on ride quality, but as far as looks... it will definately change the look of the vehicle(IMO in a good way).

wb1948, where did you get 1-1/8 inch spacers? I did some measuring and noticed that the lugs are stick out on average about 1-1/16 inches so this size spacer would be great to clear the lugs. The OEM steel wheels sit pretty flush on the hub so I don't think a 1 inch spacer would work without grinding a little off the lugs.

Right now I'm going to wait till I get 315's before I go with spacers if I go with spacers. The truck drives fine as it is and currently suffers from skinny tire syndrome. If I spaced the wheels out any it would have stuck out skinny tire syndrome (which is worse than skinny tire syndrome). ;p

spacers

Do I need to replace the oem studs if I put 1" spacer with the stock 16" 80's wheel?
Where can i get those spacers?

I ran Moab last year on J-Springs & 35s on stock wheels. This year I added a set of Marlin's 1.25" spacers before doing Moab and the increase in stability in off-camber trails was definately noticeable. There was a slight increase in kickback in the steering when hitting potholes or rocks and some very slight rubbing on the front when the wheel is turned just right and fully stuffed, but no other bad effects so far.

I still have the factory flares and they still cover the tires (barely) and I think it looks better with the wheels out a little further, plus having the tires out a little more helps protect the sheet metal.

No, it looks like this. PM Inacoma, he used to carry them at a reasonable price.

I've run 1" spacers with OEM wheels on my 80. The OEM lug bolts will protrude slightly past the spacer but they fit right into the gaps of the OEM wheels. Does that make sense? Steering effort went up slightly but it handled just fine. The 1" spacers worked pretty good because it allowed the wheel to still make contact with the hub--keeping it hubcentric. I recommend getting a spacer that is hubcentric too.

Um, the factory wheels are LUG centric so wouldn't you want a spacer that was the same? I too am thinking of using a 1" spacer for my 33's and medium setup.

I love this argument. :flipoff2:

You know I don't buy it that the wheels are lug centric. My steelies are very much centered on the hub. Of course maybe the alloys are lug centric. I don't remember.

Phil ,

What wheels are you running with these spacers? Width, BS etc . Do you have any pics of the 80 from the front or rear, straight on?

Thanx,

TY

1" spacer with 295/75-16's and 2.5" lift. The driver's side is more recessed.

BFG 37" AT on 9 X 17 Welds W/ 1.5 spacers.
Front tires are about 1" past the flares
Rear tires are flush w/ flares

I use a 1 inch spacer with great results and did have to grind off the rear lugs a little to run the MT rims that I have on the swampers. With the MTR/s I have no wheel well rub , but with the swampers (36/13/16) I have some rub on the rear on the outside of the wheel well to the point it catches the lip that is bent up. It also mess with the fender bits (the dang fibreglass stuff). I also did have to cut the front ARB bumper wings back a good 2 inches and weld in the ends. Under full stuff with the swampers it would jam in to the wings and not allow you to turn. with the 6 inch lift and a 4 inch block for bump stop, I have no rub in the rear. But I have been playing with different bump stop spacers to not have a 4 inch block. good luck on your choice. later robbie

Well I just ordered 1" spacers. I'll post up when I get them, but I'm only running 2.5" lift and 33's. Should still look good......now to get some front mud flaps.

From whom did you order?

Damn that's cheap! Do you know if they are hubcentric or not? Either way good price.
