Who's Running 4 4Runner Calipers?

it was offset towards the outside of the knucke. I just didn't like the amount of flex in the line when you cranked the wheel the other way then the picture I posted. It still concerns me a little that the line is going to be kinked or strained. I will keep an eye on it.

My first plan was to make the bracket bolt to the shock mount (hence the extra hole) but the angles where just to sharp. I also had the shocks mounted lower on the front side of the housing but ran into a few binding issues because of the placement of the top shock mount. As a result that is what I came up with.

Everything appears to move freely through the suspensions full range of movement and I have kept everything as clean and as simple as possible.

I also relocated my bracket that holds the connection between the hardline and softline. My stuff was all cut off for the cut-n-turn, so I didn't know exactly where it was supposed to go, so I put it where ever I wanted. :D

Here's a couple pics of how mine ended up. Could have went with a couple inches shorter of a line for mine I guess. But it's workin' great and so I don't care.

I removed the dust shields and cut up an old set just to keep the spacing right or you crush the seal.

Basically mine were mud scoops with the cooling vent so off they came.

I used those napa numbers and came up with this. So far I am very happy.

Looking good man! Look like there is a big gaping hole in your housing though! Hopefully its filled by now! :D

Hey thanks. I hope to get the knuckle and steering components powder coated over the christmas holidays. Stop that nasty rust.

I am just waiting for another set of bearings for the front dif...and a set of longfields...

This mod looks like a winner. Any other changes besides the softlines? For example - master or booster?

Most of us have or are going to swap in a new master cylinder with this swap. The 4runner calipers are bigger than stock LC ones and require more fluid. There are several options as to which master to run... some are running a Supra master and some are running an 80 series master and some are running a 4runner master.

Cool! Napa Part #? :D

That one's actually the one that I got from the wrecker! I got it for a core return and for the reservoir. It looks way clean (They told us it was re-man) so I was thinking of just tryin' it... If not I've got a re-man aisan from Autozone. I know, I know, I don't usually go anywhere but napa myself, but my little bro is an Asst Mgr at Autozone here (he's been there 2.5 years  ) and he's been helping me out with my projects and has been savin' me a good % more off parts if I get 'em from him. I figure I can't really go that wrong with lifetime warranties on everything, plus my bro as the hookup...

This is a little like reading comprehension (my son has recently taken the SAT)....

It sounds like I need the following:
New master (4 runner, Supra, 80)
New caliper (4 runner)
New soft lines (part no's below)

All is bolt-up?

Yup. Two loaded calipers. They bolt right up. I've heard you don't actually have to run the new soft lines if you *tweak* the hard lines that run from the backing plate to the caliper. But I wouldn't recommend doing that... The only sort of catch is that you have to atleast clearance the dust shield/backing plate at the "ends" of where the caliper sits. You only need to get rid of about a 1/2" at each "end". I clearanced mine with some handheld files and some pliers--mainly 'cause I didn't have access to anything else at the time--but it worked out great. Of course, you can get rid of it all together like these guys are doing and run a spacer where it bolts on...

One thing I'd like to suggest. If you have 4 wheel discs, use the Supra or the FZJ80 master, the residual valves are correct for that set up. If you have drums in the back, go for the 4Runner / V6 Hilux or US FJ80 master as the rear drum return springs need a much higher residual pressure in the line. Ive tried running an FZJ80 master on a rig with rear drums and there is not enough residual pressure in the rear circuit to keep the brake shoes close to the drum, so it took a few pumps on the pedal to get a solid pedal. Not a good feeling when traffic stops in front of you.

It's all bolt up except for some rebending of brake lines, especially with Supra or FZJ80 master as the outlets are at different angles and sides.

Use 93-94 80 master for 4WDB since the booster bolt pattern changed to 2 studs in 1995.

BTW, I know a great supplier for NEW loaded calipers (great price and no core needed) and he's said I can give his contact info out if anyone would like it. He's down in Orange, CA. Straight shooter for sure. Originally, he accidentally sent me two passenger side calipers. I sent him an email and he got right on it and sent me a new set of calipers at no charge. Didn't even require me to send the other ones back. PM me for his contact info.

And due to that little mixup with the calipers, I just ended up purchasing some re-man calipers from autozone (I didn't know the new calipers were on their way from my contact and couldn't wait for them anyway) and then pulled a little switcharoo and returned them to Autozone... ;) So, I have a brand new pair of 4runner calipers sittin' here if anyone needs them. You will need pads and the hardware for the pads. I'll let them go for a very reasonable price if anyone wants them. PM me.

So for a MC a 93 4x4 6 Cyl 4Runner will work?
