My girlfriend gets off at 5:30 and want to scoop her up. There is another couple we just met here in Sedona/Flagstaff that will be heading up too. I would like to arrange food for all and beverages so we can all socialize and get to know each other more. ( as an addition to the original posters Sedona wheeling plans)

Directions to Schnebly Hill Rd- at the Y ( 89a & 179) take 179 towards Village of Oak Creek just after crossing the bridge take a right that is Schnebly Hill Rd

if coming up 179 from the south on the left will be Garlands just before the bridge go straight or bare right on Schnebly Hill Rd. Take it to the top just when you crest the top there is a view parking on the left, on the right is the trail head for the Basalt trail head up to the basalt trail about 1/2 mile on the right you will see a big juniper tree with a turn out... right on the edge ;)

I've got clearance Clarence! 15th is good to go. I'm trying to get Skeddy on line as well.

BMT...you joining the fun?

No problemos with meeting atop Schebly in the evening...we'll just have to stay away from Oak Creek Brewery that afternoon.

So if this is the week of the 14 - 16th, I may be there.
No wheeling for me, aside from Schnebley Hill Rd. Unless I
happen to get my motor mount replaced by then. :-\
That's my graduation weekend and Yashica is itching to go
away for the weekend. We've both managed to get the
whole weekend off. We'll probably camp on the rim
somewhere and meet up with you guys Sat evening for the
sunset party.
Man. It'll be good to get out of the Valley for a few days. :D

So, do we want to discuss a meeting point for Friday Night (14th) or Saturday morning (15th)?

I've found that meeting in the Village of Oak Creek is sometimes easier. There's a Chevron station on the West side of 179 that is pretty convenient for everyone. If we're looking at a good sized crowd, we might be able to meet at the lower Bell Rock Pathway trailhead in VOC also.

Any opinions from those who are heading up from the South?

It looks like I'm in. I'm thinking about bringing the Avalanche for more of a challenge. :D

There's Soldier's Pass Road, which is short but fun. Probably a 2+ or so, with some cool short hikes into wilderness areas and arches. The pipeline trail is scenic, but as of last try, it's an out and back run. Other interesting parts are dirt roads to ruin sites and down to Oak Creek.

desert dude,

I am from flagstaff too, my wife will be with me and we can meet you at the top of Schnebly Hill Rd., I am not real sure the overlook you are talking about, do you have better directions? I have been on that rd several times ., you need to jog my memory a little maybe.

Blue 77 fj40 will be making the trip, I think we might camp that night somewhere, anerversary weekend for me.

Don't come knocking if the FJ is rockin :D
----------------------------
Seth -->take Schnebly road up through the gate (at merry go round) to the top approx. 6 miles. when you crest the top there is a view parking lot on the left. Opposite that to the right is a trail head that locals call the Basalt trail. When you take that trail 1/4- 1/2 mile up you will see a few pullouts to the right which brings you right to the edge for a great view. Small amount of boulder hopping at the start of the basalt trail. Camping is allowed anywhere up there at the top (out of the red rock area). Should be great sunset and a fun gathering!

I figured since I was going to the store anyway what's a few more

Assorted-BBQ (meat-fish) Brews & Vino...

I am also bringing tunes.( a small PA and a super quiet generator) :o

Speaking of tunes I take requests. If you have a few favorites post them on this thread and I will try an add them to the playlist.

Congratulations! You just volunteered. :D
I think BMT said someone from the AZLCA was leading it.
I'll be there. Maybe riding in a friend's Wagoneer, unless I can
get my motor mount replaced by then.

A buddy of mine is leading it (actually I volunteered him for it :flipoff2: ). I have a feeling we are going to outnumber the club members. Where are we meeting and what time, just want to make sure we are all on the same page.

Why don't we meet at the Chevron station in Village of Oak Creek at say 0900 on the 15th. That'll give those who are either camping Friday night or coming up from Phoenix, etc. the ability to either sleep in a little or not have to get up at the crack o' darkness to get up the hill.

The Chevron station is on the West side of 179 right on the North side of the village of Oak Creek, right before the lower Bell Rock Pathway trailhead.

Sound good?
