which small cycling companies do you respect?

How about IBIS ? I'm not sure about their new stuff but their "Alibi" and "Mojo" sure used to be sweet! :)
Ibis Cycles

I ride a Colnago on the road and an Ellsworth in the hills. Both are great lightweight frames from smaller companies, expensive. Colnago out of Italy, Ellsworth usa. Campagnolo components on the road, record all the way. My Ellsworth is mostly Shimano saint components, Shimano isn't small though.

I just picked up a new mojo SL after spending the whole summer demoing every AM rig I could get my hands on. I absolutely love it!

Unfortunately, the Wojcick hasn't seen much action in the last few years. Too many other toys to play with.

EWR bikes.

Designed in PA. Built in Philadelphia. Welded by Bilenky.

One will probably be my next hardtail.

tough question, small is not the right question, maybe up and coming. I understand what you are after, I like some smaller bike companies like Titus for example, but they have reps and shops, however maybe they are underrepresented and would want more representation? After all they are competing against GIANTS like Specialized, Trek and many others.

I am really digging those Black Sheep bikes and forks, Straitline in BC for components, Transition, Comencal (Spain) is underrepresented in SE US how bout up there? Oh and of course the steed Dave Wiens rides Rotwild (Germany).

I just bought a light that is only sold by Geomangear.com but maybe you can help with distribution called Magic Light model is MJ808. AWESOME light and deal. Only problem is they are Chinese.

Cool thread

Steelman, Soulcraft, Huntercycles, If you can find a Hoover let me know, I may be interested, Especialy a cross, Yeah right, good luck ***kers.

Very neat... I know someone at Spot. These ones posted earlier are spot on. Surly is owned by QBP therefore not small.. I personally ride a Ventana, you'll find though a lot of the small companies super busy and hard to break through to from my experience (mostly building web sites for various companies). Good luck, Andre

For me, any that exclusively build in-house and don't cut corners would qualify.

Moots, Waltworks, Strong, Eriksen, Kirk, Chris King, I9.

There are quite a few independent builders that are fantastic...and a few not so much. When you say "small companies" to me that excludes the folks that are now importing from Asia and rebadging items. Unfortunately in the quest to grow some of the companies listed in previous posts are doing just that.

Morewood Bikes ... check them out... Morewood Bikes
super nice guys that are into customer support.
The bikes are very high quality and won't leave you stranded and are super fun to ride...!
They are made in South Africa which the owner Patrick Morewood has just bought a BJ45 so is a Cruiser fan and the USA distributor has a FJ40.... enough said..

I have Hadley hubs and they are awesome.. Right up there with King if not better (less noise, rock solid). White Brothers Forks, and my Ventana.. :)
Hadley are the macdaddy. Gotta love Intense. Snapped the pivot on my Uzzi and they sent me another. Bottom line is they make wicked s***.
