So, just finished 6 hours of hammering into the install... Sadly... It kicked my butt.
Understandable as I'm not a mechanic but damm.
Truck was running fine, vacuum advance shot. I found BTDC (Aligned the needle to the ball). Took the old dizzy out and put the new one. My timing shouldnt be that bad right?
Bypassed the igniter so positive from the pertronix to the positive on the coil and negative to negative. Tachometer to the negative om the coil. No spark!
So at this point I was thinking, I need voltage! So I connected the positive that got in to the ignitor directly to the positive of the coil. No spark! This positive bridges from the coil to the igniter in the usual FJ60 electronic configuration.
So at this point I move back to mechanical points. Took the Pertronix out and install points and connect the dizzy at shown on this diagram. No ballast resistor but I just want the truck to run, not great but to run.
We're often asked about how to fit this distributor on an U.S. spec FJ60 (either desmogged or stock), which isn't listed as one of the supported applications in the product page. The short answer is that we're not in the best position to advise on such installation, as we're in a smog regulated...

Heard a few backfires, tried to adjust and double check many times and I was not able. I was definitely getting spark at the points because with the car ignition on ON I moved the dizzy counter wise and I was able to see the little spark when opening and closing the points.
I put back the old dizzy and called the day, I haven't start the car yet, need to double check everything tomorrow morning while fresh minded.
- I believe the pertronix exploded. It's not burned but I notice some physical damaged

@4Cruisers can you hook me up with one of those vacuum advance canisters? The entire reason for all I'm doing is that my dual advance is shot.
