Which Aftermarket Seat Covers to Buy in 2021

I have a couple posts on here about my experience with LSeats. Their customer service is crap. After ordering I never got a confirmation or email or anything but they eventually showed up about when the website said they would. A local shop in Austin installed them for around $400 I think. They took one look at the covers and said, "These are s***. You should've bought Katzkin" (Katzkin doesn't make covers for the 100 series, at least not at that time, I think). And they were right, LSeats leather is as cheap as it gets. but I still think they are a decent buy for the money and for an older vehicle that is years beyond being anything close to luxury.

I've had them on a little over a year now and the edge of my seat cushion, where my legs and ass slide across as I get in and out is already wearing out. Not wearing through the leather but through the dye coloring. There's a significant white line along the edge where it's worn through the dyed part. That's disappointing after only a year, but it's about what I expected going cheap like that. If you're not looking too closely the seats still look really good at first glance and they are still comfortable to ride on.

After a bunch of research, I ponied up for some Escape Gear covers. I've had Wet Okole's before. They were nice but weren't as durable as the Escape Gear. They weren't cheap, but I don't think I'll ever need to replace them.

Has the leather tightened up any after time? I love that setup and would do the same.
I would say no change. We recently used the truck for a 1400+ mile trip from Vegas to Lake Tahoe CA and back, and I would say that trip alone it has paid for itself. Very comfy, soft leather on that 8hr drive one way. If there was any fatigue on my back and buttocks it was close to none. I highly recommend it.

At some point, I think I will go with Ridies for LX. They seem to be aware of the cushion differences. I may order some and just hold on to them until I can find a trim shop to install. I may need to go up to NWA or leave the area to get them installed.

I have an LX driver's seat cushion in the box for the day when I replace the leathers.

Can you post pics of the rear and third row seats with these covers? Also, did this set come with armrest covers for the front?

Bring em up with a case of beer and we can install them.

After doing my seat bottom I wouldn’t be afraid to do the entire seats. Actually that’s what I plan to do if I ever recover

👍 Thank you! You know I'll remember this.

I highly recommend the following:
I put them in my 80 six years ago and have had ZERO issues. I'm not easy on my rig and they still look great. Liked them so much I put them in my '18 Taco and my wife's Outback. There are tons of options for color/pattern/features.

I bought a driver's seat cushion for my 99 LX in the spring of 2020 -- soon to be 2 years ago. I noticed this part is NLA at Partsouq. However, I do see this part available on US Lexus sites. Lexus uses a slightly different cushion than the Landcruiser. My past experience with other import brands has been that upholstery parts start to disappear after 10 years.

If you think you will need a seat cushion in the next two years, it might be a good thing to purchase one and hold it. I was surprised this part was still available when I placed the order.

I ordered front passenger and driver seat foam from a Lexus dealer. The foam are very different LX vs LC.

I ordered mine through a dealer in GA, no tax and free shipping for close to $700.

For the money you guys are spending on covers, you might think about just getting new leather...

I got a replacement bottom cover on clearance from @FJ60Cam at and am very happy with it. Poking around on his site, he has also figured out a cooling system for the seats--it is a little pricey, but not far out of line with what you'd pay to add that option to a new car.

The install was a giant pain as I had never done upholstery before, but once I figured out a few things technique-wise, it wasn't bad at all and I'd do it again if I needed to.

Just got a quote - brought the Lseat covers to the shop and $400-450 with headrests/armrests (front seats). Old guy with some nice restorations in shop, will update. Not sure which way to go on my other LC - might do Ridies.

Honestly, for pure bang for buck IGGEE is making solid stuff. Have had my covers on for about 5 months and no wear and tear so far. Fit is good on the seat itself, the armrest is sort of loose and the headrest is kind of tight but it fits. for $180 shipped/pair it certainly beats LSEAT and others, and DIY is a huge plus
