Anyone have suggestions on where to look to find a suitable donor HJ60 for a drivetrain swap? I've looked on some of the obvious sites (trader.ca, kijiji, craigslist...) are there others I'm overlooking? Think there is much hope poking around some of the wreckers and toyota specific repair shops? Where do you find trucks that aren't being priced as if they are family heirlooms?

Well one thing you did is let every one know your looking, cause haveing more eyes looking is better. Other than that, your just going to have to wait and hope you get lucky. There are deals out there, just got to keep your eyes open.

Yup, the more eyes the better.

I'm looking at getting a clean California body for my 62, and my "source" is hoping I can track down a 2H/H55F combo for one of his project trucks.

The best I've found online with a quick search is mildly rusty HJ60 with 488 000 km for $5000. There are a couple nicer ones asking $7-8000. Heck, when I started looking for my cruiser, I looked at an HJ60 is Saskatoon, the drivetrain was good (recently rebuilt by a retired Potash Mine mechanic) but the body and interior were shot. They were still asking $10 000 for it

I talked to a guy at a banff ski hill with a rough HJ60 for sale. I never took his number, but the point is that they are out there. Keep searching.. I know the guy at "hilltop cruisers" has some 60s he was parting ways with, but his prices are normally pretty steep, and I'm not sure I would buy from him from some of the stories I have heard, but maybe he has a real rough HJ60 you could get from him for a reasonable cost.
