Where to get O2 sensor bung?

Walk, I suppose.

it can't....not an independent piece on the exhaust system...unless you find someone who has replaced their exhaust and is willing to cut that part out for you...

check the thread/pitch of the stock O2, I know that for my GM O2 I used a spark plug fouler for $2 rather than a $9 bung...and it was avail at Autozone.

for that amount of work, why not weld shut/redrill/retap the stock opening?

Yup. The 80 uses a flat plate with two studs sticking out. The nuts often rust clean off. You can generally clean up the studs with a die and then put new nuts on, but I've seen welded on ones before.

Can you cut the welds, or are the studs broken off too?

Is using a universal bosch O2 sensor that mounts in the round bung an option for our trucks? Probably cheaper than the factory one, and I'm assuming it would work just as well.

Everyone's fav person to fight with (Sumotoy) posted a thread in regards to something very similar. I think it was a few months back but he swapped out the OEM O2 sensors for heated Bosche units and provided wiring info as well.

I had a similar problem with my cruiser when I bought it. The studs were pretty heavily rusted.

On one set (rear I think) the exhaust guy welded a piece of scrap metal to the old studs, then removed them with brute force. he then cleaned the holes and threaded in a new stud. He said it was really not that difficult and it took around 30 minutes. It was really inexpensive for him to do this.

If that wouldn't work, plan B for him was going to be grind the stud down flat and just clean up the whole flat bung plate. At this point you could do one of two things:
1) have him weld on a aftermarket bung plate that has a threaded center like a spark plug- this is what the aftermarket O2 sensors will thread into. I now have one OEM 02 sensor in the rear one, and one aftermarket replacement NGK in the front that I spliced into the old harness.

or
2) drill into the flat plate and replace the studs with bolts instead ( much more time consuming probably)

Or you could just feed the shamans dogs!

Hope this helps.

What about finding nut replacements

I replacen my sensors and was able to reuse all but one of the copper or brass nuts. I just found another stainless flange nut to replace the bad one but worry about what effect the extreem heat will have. It might be even harder to get off next time. Can the nuts be ordered as a set. It seems like they would come with the new OEM sensors but no such luck...
