Just got back from a nice little food/drink safari to New Orleans.
It was hit and miss, so here is the rundown.....
Friday, hung out in the quarter shopping on Royal St. Went to dinner early and was planning on Stanley, but never knew it was the same lunch menu at dinner. I love their poboys and burgers but was looking for a sit down. I used to do a lot of dinner programs at http://www.tujaguesrestaurant.com/ when I was a rep in NO and wanted to check it out again after all these years.
It is a 4 course set menu, old school NO place. Great atmosphere, great 3 of 4 courses but the fish and the filet were both just blah. 5/5 on atmosphere 3/5 on food.
Saturday, Camellia Grill in the Quarter. Superb. Simply, superb. Peanut is my favorite server. USA Retires MSGT. Makes it right. I had a breakfast burger, Red had the pecan waffles.

Lunch found us at Cassamento's with Chris and Debbie with a surprise showing from my friend Julius and his smoking hot GF Stephanie. They jumped in on the action and we all had sammiches and oysters.
This place is truly amazing and never disappoints.
I recommend the shrimp loaf. Julius had the meatball loaf and was in heaven. Tolleson's were loving the oysters.
Cash only. Closed July, August, September. Expect to wait a bit.

Dinner on Saturday, we were planning on going to 3 muses....but the Frenchman St crowds are getting so big, we were going to have to eat at 6:30 to get in.
Then we got a table at Gautreau's......but we ended up drinking and eating a snack poboy at Tracey's until after our reservation time.
Finally, we settled on A Mano in the CBD. It is an upscale Italian Creole type place.
I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Good, but not great. Limited menu. My flank steak was good, but pretty normal. Julie's fish was a bit overcooked. None of us were really that hungry. No pics because it was all a bit "meh"
From there we went to DBA until about midnight.
Then we got a table at Gautreau's......but we ended up drinking and eating a snack poboy at Tracey's until after our reservation time.

Lucy's is one of the best bars/breakfast spots in New Orleans. I love this place. Never had a bad meal. Julie and I rode bikes and at the end of the meal, the bottom fell out of the sky.
WCT manned up and hailed a cab for us.
Possibly the funniest thing of the weekend.....
Cafe Du Monde in Kenner to get us home and have a treat for the kids tomorrow.

Camelia grill no matter which one u go to ( carrolton or in the quarter) is my favorite breakfast place to go. many a nights there after the night life settled down-"the Donger need food !"
