opinions on Mandinas in NOLA? it's a possibility for lunch Saturday after the zoo
that's another option but unfortunately im doing a wedding weekend planned by women so we are all over the dang place BUT there are 2 bright spots

As far as the food I was never amazed but it's been there as long as the oak trees.
On that side of town with women, I might go to baru on magazine for tapas. Bring your own bottle of wine and yes there's a cork fee. The food is really good and for a group it's fun to order 5 or so things and have a little of everything.
My other suggestion if they are wanting something local and funky is crabby jacks. It's jacquimos (sp) day place with rockin everything. Only open til 3 on saturdays and sometimes it's standing room only. Otherwise plan to sit next to folks you don't know... Yet! They have poboys like mandinas etc but forget that...
Get the stuffed mirliton, jalepeno Mac n cheese, shrimp creole and fried chicken.

I like Crabby Jacks but Julie was not overwhelmed. I had the Duck Po Boy and it was a hot mess. We did Baru on Sheila's recommendation and loved it.
