They're just flat-out closing. They didn't renew their lease and they're calling for everyone with gift certificates to redeem them by the end of March.

IMHO, they were always hamstrung by their location. It never looked or felt like a restaurant.

I love that location but it does need a little help to make the space work. There is a place in Decatur, GA that is a lot like it called The Universal Joint. Old full service gas station that does Cherokee style food.

Location was good, it's the sub-par, overpriced food that did them in. You can get a Walkers blue plate for the same price as a crappy BLT from Mimi's.

Here here. Glad you said it.

I'm trying to talk Derek into putting a burger joint in there.

I'd love to either see a real BBQ joint go in or a replica of Slim Goodies, my favorite NOLA greasy spoon.

Gonna put Slim Goodies on my NOLA list. Have not been there yet.

Those of us who live here avoid 6th street like the plague. No one there but thousands of drunks, bums, pickpockets, homeless, and yuppie douchebags...

I used to feel that way about the Quarter when I was living in New Orleans. Too cool to be around all the above.

Now, all I want to do is be in the quarter.....I just avoid Bourbon after 9 pm.

Snob.

To clarify, that joint has excellent burgers and it's fine for lunch if you're already downtown, or work downtown. It also happens to be a block from a huge homeless shelter and you have to fight your way through a sea of bums and panhandlers to even get there. At night it's just flat dangerous--highest concentration of muggings in our fair city. Some of 6th street is still cool, but not where that joint is located.

Yep, I'm a snob.

So this lucha libre dude and his tentacled inflatable friend don't intervene to save your bacon?
