Hi all,

I am a FJ62 owner here in the US (Florida) and I am considering buying a HZJ105 for use in my native country of the Dominican Republic. No problems importing them there!:) I've done many searches on the net and on the forums here and haven't found a lot of specific info on the HZJ105. Its not listed on the Toyota Australia website, nor the Toyota Japan website. The only places I have found them is on:

http://www.toyotagabon.com/
http://www.toyota-gib.com/
and a few owners websites

I notice that the 4.2 1HZ is the diesel engine offered, but then I noticed on toyota australia http://www.toyota.com.au/ that the 4.2 diesel offered on the 100 is a turbo diesel. Is this the same engine? Also, is the vehicle offered in both RHD and LHD?

How would one go about purchasing a brand new HZJ105 (preferably in a turbo diesel)?? Perhaps some of the landcruiser experts out there can help me out! Thanks!:)

Regards,

Marco

welcome to the forum!
this post may be better in the Diesel forum, though, so there it goes!
good luck!

On the Australian site the 105 is listed as a "Standard" or STD which is what its been called here since the 80 series.
http://lc100.toyota.com.au/toyota/vehicle/FreeText/0,4665,2844_704,00.html

The engine is basically the same as the turbo but the cylinder head and injector pump are different .
Unfortunately the turbo is not available in the 105.

I think its available in LHD as its sold in Africa which has both LHD and RHD countries
I thought maybe some of the South American dealers maybe able to help

Thanks for the info! Wow, I surfed that same site and since they didn't list it as the 105 I completely overlooked the specs!

Now, where to get one!!:) :)

Noticed that there are several aftermarket turbo kits available for it in Australia...wonder if those would fit a LHD model...

I have a personal preference for one of these after speaking to a few owners and the company rep.

I beleiive they dont stress the engine as much as the turbo does pushing air through the pre cups.
I think they have a north american dealer maybe in FL

Kewl!!! Thats definitely something I'll check out when I get the HZJ105! I also saw the American reps there on their website. I'll contact them to see if I can get any more info on their kits...

Hey Rosco,

Do you have any experience or knowledge of the other turbo systems for the 1HZ? Such as APS/Safari, ATX, Marks4wd, Turbo-Glide? Pros, cons?

Marco
No I dont but some of the others on here do.
Try the search function or start a new post.

The Safari,Turboglide and ATX are widely used here
Most of them are using the same unit with their own kit added I think;)

Grrrrrr:mad: What is the reasoning behind that!?

I'm a little confused. Are there two different trim levels for the "Standard". There's the HZJ105 Standard and then the HZJ105 Standard GXL. Is GXL just a higher trim option?

Yes .. double aire, dual tank .. and things about it.

I still searching one site where I saw 105 with the 1HD-T engine as option .. only for autralya I remember well.

Anycase aftermarket turbo and intercooler ( my choice turbo glide coz is my only turbo setup experience .. :D ) setup ..

Badas rig !

The HZJ105 Gx is widely sold in South Africa as a 100 GX.Unfortunately only with the 1HZ and R151 box.The SFA and 3 lockers make up for it though ;)

I WISH we could buy a 105 here in Canada and didn't have to wait 15 years....but I do love my 80!
