Yeah, no reply from the craigslist guy yet either. The cruiserparts people have a used one for $300 plus $120 shipping....as I mentioned, there are lots of passenger side fenders around for sale, just no drivers side.
Found this place in Colombia but no reply yet after 3 days. http://www.citroa.com/#!
Fjeng, I may end up using that suggestion! Sounds very durable!
Appreciate everyones help and imput. I'm gonna try the Craigslist guy in Atlanta again tcstark....thanks again!

So, my experience. I got a quote from Beno at Lowe a couple weeks ago. Right side OEM avail. Left side, discontinued.

I have a fiberglass set being sold to a Mudder in Denver. Very nice, heavy duty stuff.

Yes, greyhound from TN to Denver -$78 (TCSTARK just told me that tip yesterday). No other shipper will send for less than double that singly, and over $250 in one box.

RainMan on this forum just fitted a CCOT set in Nashville and had to make some pretty good adjustments to then to fit. Find his build thread. Near the top of the 40 tech thread. He was frustrated, but they work. Good quality says he.

EDIT -here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/742351-first-fj40-build-long-time-10.html

I just bought a nice set from... TCSTARK. And the circle is complete.

And WileyCoyote, parts hoarder extraordinaire in KY has none.

There might be another option. There was a thread in the 25 section I believe a few years back. Seems that Toyota would make a part if they is enough demand for that part. The Thread was about 16" OEM steel wheels for the FJ40. Problem is you need to provide VINs for the vehicles needing the part. Since Toyota never imported 16" wheels on the FJ40 in the US and that is where the demand was it's didn't go anywhere. Fenders I would think be a completely different story. If they would keep the price the same would think there would be enough demand for OEM quality fenders for Toyota to consider it. I don't have a need for fenders but I have VINs.

Hmmm, interesting. We could start a "Mr Toyota, I want a left fender" thread. Send it to Lowe or Other Toyota shop that wishes to help.

Problem: valid 3rd party versions are being made.

i would not consider anything sold by CCOT to be "valid". ill spend the extra loot for OEM fenders anyday. that probably leaves 1, maybe 2 3rd party US based fender stampers.

I'm sayin' that if it were a key engine component or a tranny piece that would be very hard for someone else to make, then Toyota might be more apt to make it. Fender that has competition, I don't know. Caveat: I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I did lay eyes on the CCOT fenders, and my new friend Rainman bent them into place. He's satisfied. Doesn't mean you would be.

And CCOT does NOT have left fenders available, indefinately bo'd...no one does, hence the predicament....And those members that have used avlbl don't want to ship cuz of the hassle...cant say as I blame them...

ccot has aftermarket lefts dont they? But they are also 18ga and i assumed OEM were 16. I loathe to put 18ga anything back on my crusier. We should look into this petitioning to toyota to start making the lefts again.

This LH fender situation has really killed my buzz. I had put off any fender purchases while I tackled more mechanically important items. However I never would have expected the LH fender to be NLA. Lesson learned. I ordered a RH fender yesterday from Toyota to prevent further disaster. But I still need a matching left.....

how much and from who did you order rock? how much for shipping?

I ordered from Village Toyota and they did confirm via email that the fender was indeed available. I'd contact them for a shipping quote based on your location. The fender was $242.

Is Pacol still around? I recall a thread awhile back about how they disappeared and maybe even disappeared with peoples $$$$. Not sure what the story was. I bought the CCOT fenders and ended up still buying a passenger OEM fender and then working the drivers side to fit. The CCOT are descent quality, but the fit is terrible! It stalled out my project for months because I would work on it for an hour or two before I would get pissed and quit. I dreaded it! OEM is worth every extra penny! If Toyota started to make them again I would replace my CCOT fender in a heart beat. The fit is still is a Hair off. It works though and no one, but me would notice.
