Hi gang,

Unfortunately, and completely unrelated to the fact that I run a stock 74 and may sustain damage, I will not be able to attend the trip this w/e.

See you tomorrow night! :)

I was going to comment and say I've ran up and down and all over that mountain with my relatively stock fj45 and never even scratched it. But then..there was those 2 HUGE rocks up at the damn that gave me my first of what would be a few rock rash's. Those rocks were totally avoidable though, my spotter was lacking in skills it turned out.
This was all pre-closure, before the gate etc etc...so I have no idea what condition the trails are in now.

Gary Telford feels that the trail to "Forbidden Mountain" is too treacherous and boggy at this time of year. He has played up there since he was a kid both on bikes and with Cruisers. He knows what he is talking about. If he says don't go, then I believe him, and will not be there on Saturday. Last time we went, many vehicles sustained damage, including El Presidente's Birfield joint. Might be an idea to take chains for the lower section mud bogs. Have fun!

This isn't a glowing review for Sat. I'm still in, but if there's a plan B run....ah, who am I kidding. I'm a sheep. I'll go anywhere as long as someone is willing to pull my butt out of the mud. It's only a truck. It can be fixed.
;p

OH YA Clarence, that's the attitude! Oh hell it's only a truck, it can be fixed. So let me guess your one of the If it happens it happens votes on the poll.

I've no idea what to expect, seeing as I have never been there...

I can defer if those who know the area suggest it is not wise, but I wanna do something on Saturday. I could also continue with the plan...and see how it is...

Isn't there somewhere a wee bit tamer. :o

For thoe of you who are familiar with the area, is there a spot to "
park it" then carry on with someone else more capable or crazy:grinpimp: I would love to wheel with you guys, but I am concerned about getting into a situation and not able to turn back.
HOWEVER - the sliders are on order... yahoooooooooo:bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2:

Hey guys:

I've never been to the area yet either...but I'm willing to go give it a look-see. How about we try to get through until we hit snow...and if we can't go very far, then gfo play around in Harrison? Maybe catch up with the rest of the wheelers at Sunrise and play at Hale Creek?

I will give it some more thought... Where do you want to meet and at what time? Thanks for the encouragment Stone... only for u;)

seriously.........................its an easy trail. Im not even brinnging my 60. (still broken) Ill be driving in my girlfriends 4Runnner, small lift 33s and open diffs. Depending on the amount of snow at the top I Guarantee I will make it to the top with out a problem

I say just meet in the mall parking lot at 9am. The very back section on Johnson. Lots of open space

Dan and I went there for a quick run just before Christmas
It was dark and cold so we didn't air down. We ran most of the lower trail, went thru all the mud pits, ice and water holes, and climbed all the steep hills we saw.
It was basically very easy.

The only concerns I have are for the stock low riders taking some of the tight corners near the bypass areas. The rest of the trails aren't that bad or can be bypassed.
Just don't take 60's thru the tight spots that are off camber.

Have fun!!
I'll post some pics of my work progress on the FJ40 after the weekend
