Bezel upside down?
meh.... little JB weld and it will be good as new. 
Plug works better when you want to drain the dif oil. 
I've seen that once before on a 40 that was being towed... it had the t-case ripped in 2 also. It didn't manage to rotate the axle though. I'm guessing somebody either didn't retorque their u-bolts or didn't weld the perches on well enough?

It is actually....
I thought that as well at first glance, however it looks like they just used some square tube to make "perches".
Yikes! Guess that's what you get wit the booty fab.

Well for starters the perches where tacked in not welded!
