Decided to remove my transfer case as it needed some attention and to resolve some leaks, ill post on that later. While I am down there, i am going to replace the clutch and the oil pan gasket, maybe the entire oil pan as there is oil everywhere from the transfer case, the seals, and the oil pan.

Anyhow, I got the oil pan removed, and I found a big piece of metal inside. Wondering if you all can help tell me if I am in trouble or not, or where this metal comes from?

P.S. - I know nothing about cars, nothing about wrenching, other than leftie loosie righty tighty, and so far I just keep turning left whenever I see a bolt, so please dont waste your time telling me I dont know nuttin, I already know that.

yep, that's the arm from a previous fuel pump

I do think I remember that the previous owner said they replaced the fuel pump. So I guess I am in the safe zone then, not much to worry about in terms of the engine being damaged? Seems like a big piece of metal to be floating around in the oil pan.

if a 3 port fuel pump was installed without the spacer, the broken arm is the result
the "big" piece of metal will just sit in the bottom of the pan and not cause any issues
