I sold the LC in my avatar a few years back, regretted it ever since. Yesterday picked up a very unusual LC100.

The LC needs some TLC but other than that, it's all good I think/hope. It's a Middle East import ("GCC") and has features never seen in these parts, in a color and setup also never seen around here.

255K kilometers, of which nearly none in the last 2 years. Also zero maintenance the last 2 years, it was just parked somewhere nearby while the owner was effectively living in Dubai (again).

Paint is a sort of mother-of-pearl white. All (normally) chrome parts are gold. The rear spoiler is something I had never seen before.

Neither had I ever seen:
- an OEM subtank (very cool),
- a (gold) hood ornament,
- that front bumper setup,
- an OEM towing hitch in what we call "DIN" style (all hitches here are ball coupling),
- a fridge in the front console,
- a shift lock button,
- green light-up "Landcruiser" in the instep on all doors,
- lights at floor level on the B-pillar (also green)
- a speed warning above 120km/h, that buzzes and lights up in the dash and I can't seem to turn off,
- the vehicle is totally rustproofed with what we call "tectyl". It looks like crap and is a nightmare to remove so I'm leaving it on. I am told most Dubai cars have this done.

What it should have but does not: heated seats. Not surprising in the Middle East, but unexpected nonetheless.

I am told the engine is also different. GCC models (I am told) had the 275 HP VVTi 4.7 V8, but the manual does not reflect this. To be honest I don't care but the engine does not feel as smooth as my old rig right now, could be resolved with a good servicing.

I think the air filter is different too, but I can't remember what my old one looked like.
I honestly can't recall my old one being this huge cylindrical thing.

I need to drop the glove box to check out the interior air filter which I also presume will be desert-spec.

Other than that:
- dual A/C,
- Parking sensors front and aft
- reverse camera
- satnav
- AHC
- wooden steering wheel, shifter and Hi/Lo range selector which I thought was LX470 only
- 17 inch wheels where every 100 here is I think 18' as standard

TLC needed:
- drivetrain feels "clunky" to me
- steering is more "vague" than I remember from my old rig, could be the 17" where I was used to 18"
- intermittent CEL light and VSC lights and the "P" lit up while in "D". Fault reader gave code P0705.
- a good wash/polish external and interior (professionally)
- headlights totally clouded over due to the sun I presume
- electric telescopic steering wheel motor burned out or not reacting which I actually had happen on my other LC as well
- TLC to the engine
- The cool instep lights are all working except one and that drives me crazy
- I think I'll remove the running boards

The only thing I haven't been able to figure out is this thing above and behind the mirror jammed up against the headliner. Anyone have a clue? It does not work: I have to pull all the fuses to see if it will light up.

OK, somebody suggested it might be a tire pressure monitoring system. Anybody have a clue as to how this is usually wired? Because it's not working right now and surely that's because someone pulled a fuse or something.

And the thing I really DONT like about our LC's is that they use the small type fuse you need to pull out to see if it's OK or not.

Next step is to pull the tires off and see if there is a sender on the valves or one of those senders wrapped around the rim.

Actually, that would be South Africa/Kenya spec (ask me how I know this). There's not much theft or carjacking in the Middle East, all jokes aside.

Congratulations that is so cool and welcome back. The sub tank and lighting door steps are great features. You should be able to get info from door ID tag on color, and the vin to help source proper FSM. I'm sure some of the Mid East guys on mud will know some helpful stuff. Are you in North America?

Nope. I am in the EU (Netherlands).

The sub tank is just plain cool. The lighting door steps also, just now to figure out how to replace one of the bulbs/LEDs/whatever is under there.

What I had not factored in is the amount of dust that is cemented onto everything. I just replaced the air filter (cyclonic model) and every single nook and cranny is caked in cement-like dust.

I am running into all sorts of issues regarding details and parts for much the same reason I have seen that happen to US guys here on Mud who don't have US rigs or are looking for non-US parts. Even when ordering using VIN from the dealers.

And just for s***s & giggles: this Middle East spec Cruiser does NOT have cabin air filter! So I am back to the exact same little exercise I did on my old rig like 5 years ago. I still have nightmares about fitting the new evap cover, such a pain to slide/thread it under the dash cross member thingy.....

I'm picking up a long list of parts today from Slee Off Road, Dealer and Grainger. For a under-maintained LX I pick-up last week. Started with cleaning for over 24 hours on underside, engine bay and just washing floor mats and a first vacuum of interior. This helps find what's needed. New parts are easy here, for most stuff. I'd like some running boards covers and roof rack parts but they are no longer available from Toyota or Lexus older than 03.

Your propeller shafts (AKA drive shafts) and spider joints (AKA U-joints) should be interesting. The shaft slip yokes seal are so tight on these 100, that we have problems with pressure causing clunk. Yours may be loosened just right by now, so grease will pass seal while lubing as I found on my LX...LOL

Is it a September 2005 (09/2005) manufacture date?

Very Cool Rig!! Best of luck with her!! Much better to see u get it than ISIS ;-)

Yes, sept 2005 according to toyodiy, I haven't been to a dealer yet to look up diagrams and parts.

My air cleaner housing is drying as we speak, caked on grit. I just removed the connector to whatever sensor is on there, unscrewed the sensor and washed the housing cover under the faucet.

Because of the rustproofing and I presume fine sand dust in Dubai, everything in the engine bay is yellow and covered. I will have it professionally cleaned, my days are full enough as is and the paint and seals need some TLC anyway, as does the interior.

I totally agree about the drive shafts and u-joints and am somewhat worried about that to be honest. I am waiting on a reply from LC specialist halfway across my country. Spark Plugs are up next for DIY, I have to keep the costs down as much as possible.

Diff/TransferCase/ATF/AHC/power steering and engine oil/oil filter are also for the specialist, just because he has a lift and the tools and the right fluids.

I am jealous, I want that subtank in my LX.

Yes, that's pretty much the reaction of everyone I had shown it to. The best part is the ease of use: flick of a switch and even the gauge reflects the right tank, as does the trip computer.

Any idea how much fuel capacity the sub-tank adds?

Yes, 50 liters. Main tank is 100 liters.

So just over 13 of your US gallons for the subtank, 26 gallons main tank.

Hi I know im joining this thread a bit late but I have the same speed warning on my car, Mine is an import from Japan and beeps if you go over 100kmph! Am very interested if you managed to sort yours and if so where was it? Ive hear lots of stories about it being a speed warning and its a sensor attached to the cluster behind the dash, Im not too comfortable fiddling with my electronics but at the same time dont really fancy paying a auto electrician for 3-4 hours labour to find it! any tips welcome. Thanks
