Whats the life expectancy of the 1FZ-FE

i came accross this a while ago and did not give it much thought , but after i saw that some folks have posted here again , which is awsome , because knowing how long in age and time and or miles on any Toyota Engine Platfom both was at day one till now is intriging to me ...

- how well its been takin care of and such is paromount of course , but what i pay close attn. for and a eagle eye out there still looking for is the possiblility that somebody here on MUD , either knows some one or in-fact is that one mirical that would become possibly the most in-depth case study that could acctually answer the question as it's written in the title of this thread ,,,,,

- i am almost certain that person , male or female owner operatior would have purchased the 1FZ-FE FZJ80 off the TOYOTA Dealership new car lot , ...............well new is what im tring to get at here :D

- and started using at there first sceduled oil change
" Fully Synthetic Motor Oil " .....

-
the name brand , not important , the viscosity grade spec'd in the 1FZ-FE owners manual , was indeed availble at your local PEP Boyz , Western Auto , and Trak-Auto all of which were local to em at that time as i turned age 16 in June of 1992 , and had my 12/78 FJ40 1 owner 2F allready filled with Mobile 1 20W50 FULL SYNTHETIC during my learners permit phase prior to turning 16 , my Father , whom mentored me at a early age like 12-13 teenager while i handed him his pristine PROTO & SK brand habd tools as he laid on his back on our concrete drive way and the family car of that days rigid maintence scedule yearly recieved what ever he was doing then and there that saturday morning as he did often ...

- Dad was a Crew Chief on a B-52 Bomber during the Vietnam War , as crew chief Maintence was his topic of responibility to interact with the ground crews in Guam where he was actually physically stationed , the Strato-Fortresses flew out from on the Missions the Conflict Zone ,,,

- only 100% Fully Synthetics any things were spec'd and provided by the BOEING Airline Manfaxcturer to the US Converment directly by pre-agreed contact , also the
Factory B-52 owners manual simply said to do only just that , my dad told me growing up , more times then can remember :D:beer:🎇

- well that how i learned the early basics of all the advanatages of ONLY ever using Fully Synthetic Lubrication Products of ANY kind on my first car , or MVP if we are getting Technical here , and this is after all TECH , so MPV my
12/78 FJ40LV-KCJA usa-spec was and had always had Fully Synthetic Propeller Shaft Grease injected into Zerkz in the Spider-joints , tie rod and steering rod ends drag links etc , but where we lived at the time per the Factory Owners manual , called for 20W50 in warm , pre , during and post summer Temps , and 10W40 in the cold winter months .....

- and in 1993-1997 Mobile 1 was commonly availble as mentioned above ....

- i have never had internal mechanical engine / motor issue that was or could be related to engine oil in any way shape or form in my entire Life time of TOYOTA vehicals life till now .

- i will be 49 here in a few short days , and it is some good luck involved that since i have only ever purchased 1 NEW TOYOTA off the new car lot in my life , a special order indeed build sheet build of a
1998 T-100 SR5 3.4L 5VZ-FE when i graduated T-TEN that May , my folks helped me , and co-signed to have that special 100% made in JAPAN truck being Phased out as we spoke that day too ...

- so that leads leads me to what i want to both share below and also ask anyone too if this is indeed real ?

- and if so , then a new opertunity exists to use from day 1 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil and add to , then re-write the history on how long a 1FZ-FE can actually last before it's first needed re-bulild ....

In......if real. But doubtful?

Hi Guys,

It's been years since I had a gasser and I'm now considering one. If it's getting regular changes, how many k's or miles can you get out these engines.

Any years not prone to the head gasket leak?
Cheers,

john
Late to the thread, new to the forum:

257k with no rebuild
1qt oil consumption per 3k
190 - 205 at last compression test
Picked in up in Seattle last month, drove it to Texas in three days. Runs like a top.
Mileage actually improved over the three days (running 15+ mpg)

Me too, looked a link -- Chinese manufacturer. If they have the quality dialed in ...
Mr t still makes a factory Short block, best of the best new Mr t new.

Wouldn't touch a china reman, if you don't want to do it yourself Nick Yota 1 is the way to go, and others like Apollo 9 (I hear nothing but great things) have popped up and valley hybrids is know for quality also

To each their own but the places I take my 80 I don't want to roll any dice. I refreshed my 1fz last year, no stone unturned but I'm ready now with the short block when the time comes. Planning on picking up a new head in the next few months in preparation.

Got a notice that I was quoted on this thread that I wrote back in 2010. I haven't been to this thread since and its grown. Bit of an update....

Took me two years before I bought an 80. I picked up an LX450 in 2012 with 142K on the clock. Now sitting at 213K,

First trip:

And it's been to some cool places

Best life purchase I ever made. This is cruiser number 5. All previous ones were "trainers"

So, follow up on my original post ...
2k miles post-oil change with no oil consumption. Still reading full on stick.
1qt per 3k oil consumption is what I was told when I got it, but suspect it was all a seal leak which was fixed recently.
So, running strong.

I just picked up a 1994 with 382k miles on the clock, rebuilt 6,500 miles ago. Runs great and doesn't leak a drop of oil. 375k miles to a first rebuild is pretty good in my view.
